I really hope we see some FFvsXIII at E3, it would be really nice to get a look at some gameplay. I didn't like FFXIII at all, but considering Versus has an entirely different team I think they can redeem themselves.

I don't think you understood what's really happening here. If you buy the game new, you don't have to pay for it. If you buy it used, you'll have to pay for it if you want to go online. It's to reduce the used games market.
Character development is fine and all, but when the characters are unbelievable and just plain unlikeable.. then players lose interest in the characters and start looking at the overarching storyline. Playing Resonance of Fate, I realized that I like all the characters in that game despite how little character development and story there is. Final Fantasy just takes itself far too seriously, the melodrama is a huge turnoff.

Then you should probably read the article because the author wasn't complaining about the difficulty or size. He was saying they are too difficult and large for the casual group that's been jumping on the gaming bandwagon. Which is true (and pathetic), and sadly gaming will change to accommodate those people even more than it already does.
SOF2 was awesome. I once shot a guy with a shotgun through an intact window, and when I went in the room to check out the body he had all sorts of glass shards sticking through him.

The game isn't old, it came out only a month or two ago. And just wait til modders are finished with this game, it will look FAR better, just like Clear Sky and Shadow of Chernobyl.

I had barely any (under 100 with both sent and received), I don't use the messaging system very often. Also, I just recently had my 60GB YLOD on me so when I backed that system up I don't think it transfered any messages over, which would have been almost 3 years of messages. Only had the slim for about a month or two now. It was probably worse on my old PS3, but I know stuff like PSN items take some time to load even on a fresh machine. Trophy lists can take a while too.
