To add to this: Its important to place the power supply in a well ventilated area as well. I know its kind of a drag to have to be so careful with something but you are right, it is/was flawed. There are certainly things we can do to help not "message" its weaknesses out heh.
thats easy:
New information. Not the same regurgitated stuff I have been reading here for 2 years - and then watching the same guys sit and argue about who knows more about why the other console sucks.
My reasons for being pro hd-dvd at first were the same: no region coding, no DRM, but alas looks likey they may be biting the bullet so I went "purple" (both types of players). I tried to ask people why they like BR over hd-dvd and what I mostly get is "because MS sucks" - which doesn't really help me figure it out. *shrugs* they both suck. Frankly I'd feel like an unpaid shill (read: tool) if I started blindly support either of the two companies but hey, to each their ...
They were able to get this to work with 4 movies, this is mostly unconfirmed and shouldn't be considered "news". Unfortunately you cant read the whole thread by just clicking on the story, you have to click on the thread link in the upper right hand corner... which helps to do before calling something "news".
Thank you sir! Didn't want to overlook those! lulz
I as told that best buy and other retailers could not longer offer that warranty on the 360 since ms extended theirs. All repair/replace/warranty work needs to be done directly through them... So I have heard.
Xbox 360 may have manufacturing problems?
Please nearly half the articles on this site lately are simply flame bait.
Quick breakdown of what n4g has become:
THIS COULD BE SONY'S YEAR!
THIS COULD BE XBOX'S YEAR!
BLU RAY WINNAR!
HD-DVD NOT DEAD!
GAME X NO LONGER EXCLUSIVE?
GAME X STILL CONFIRMED EXCLUSIVE!
DEVELOPERS YET TO TAP .00008% OF THE PS3 POWER!
IS MICROSOFT HIDING FAULTY XBOX FIGURES?????
IS HA...
well, here's hoping that *if* they try to move towards a 1 sku plan, they consider putting forth the effort!
thank you for the info, this was news to me.
My next question (and this is just to clarify) is: are you saying that the 40 has no possibility for backward compatibility due to the lack of the gs chip,or is it possible but more difficult? BTW its nice to have an on fanboyish conversation on these boards finally. Thanks again man!
Nope. It is simply a software implementation that sony chooses not to put into the 40. This info is readily accessible.
the 80 gb backwards compatibility is done via software. The ps2 chip has been gone since the 60 gb has been discontinued. Hence why I think its lame that the 80 gb gets backwards compatibility and the 40 doesn't. It was sony's choice not to implement it, not a limitation of the hardware.
+1
I came to the same conclusion just a few lines above, I didn't know about the motherboard info though. Thanks!
I agree that the bigger hdd would be useless. I own a 360 elite and honestly the smaller 20 gig (more like 13 gb) was more than enough, but I plug an external 1TB HDD into my 360 for all my multimedia needs (HD-.wmv's for now, will graduall shift to using the ps3 as my media center as its slightly quieter).
I don't know that they need a higher end model though. I personally think the biggest mistake sony made with the ps3 was the price. I may get flamed for this but most rea...
Can someone please qualify their statements about the success of the 80gb model with actual sales figures?
I don't believe its the product thats the problem, its the price point. I am kind of hoping they do away with the 80gb model simply so it increases the likelihood we can get backwards comp. on the 40 gb model.
Full disclosure:
proud 360 + ps3 owner.
In the case of multiplatform I pick whichever is cheapest - ATM thats the xb. With any luck sony will be slashing prices soon!
As far as what the xb vs ps3 can do, only time will tell. If you look to previous consoles to determine that, you'll find most consoles didn't hit their stride until like year 3 or so, which is right where the xb is headed. I'm also excited to see what developers will do with the ps3's horsepower once they figure out how to put it to use. Both devices...
If you are ready to pay $300.00-$500.00 dollars on a system without ever having set eyes on it or its functionality, you are too stupid to buy anything and should probably read more articles like this to form your own opinion. Otherwise, look at the catalogue, do your homework and be aware of the extra costs and then make up your own mind. I will buy all three eventually because I don't care about the consoles, I care about the games. None of these groups want anything but our money, our s...
Any press is good press. There are far more people interested in seeing it for themselves than there ever would be people fearing the game to begin with. Anyone who believed the news piece in the first place is very likely not someone ever planning on buying the game.
Just like 2 Live Crew, just like Marilyn Manson, or any other controversy that meets consumerism - chances are their totally wrong news story generated revenue, and keeping it in the public eye will continue to ...
Best Buy is just no longer carrying it guys. It may be true that they may discontinue it, but if so it's not clarified here. There may be no new sku at all and just best buy not selling any of the 80's. It is pretty damn pricey.
They should put backwards comp. in the 40gb model since its all software anyway. They kind of shot themselves in the foot with the marketability of the 80gb model because any of us can upgrade to a larger drive, so $100.00 to play ps2 games - c'mon sony put it in the 40GB model!
If they slash the price $299.00 it'll sell like a madman. It'd be one of the cheapest BR players around and I'd buy it for that alone.
I'm glad that the average consumer has shot down the i...
I'm glad to see there are still some here who know a (half) joke when they read one. These are the only forums/boards I read where people actually just come to fight, and not *help* one another or share information. I realize there is more to the site than what I have outlined, it just gets old. Thanks for the good conversation and good on ya.
Its about the play, not the stage!
