MGS no longer exclusive. MGS still exclusive! Surfer girl farts again! and we have nearly covered the WHOLE SITES articles for the day. This site *used* to be really great... Quite a few of us have been complaining about this for months now. At least I haven't been getting as many disagrees for saying what other people are starting to see as well.

Man, lately it's more like "news for lamers."

how this saves the industry, or how any revenue generated by a game made 4 years ago is beyond me. In fact, I'd say WoW is hurting the industry as a whole because its seriously curbed the purchase of new games.

You don't have to be a "console fanboy" to be able to read. There are plenty of articles out there discussing the decline of the PC game. It is possible to like them all and still spot a deficiency in one.

as gamers its hard to look at things with any other lens, but pc gaming/gamers make up a very small portion of the pc user base. Think of all the things computers can and are used for. No need for games in most of that.

If pc gaming were to die tomorrow - the gaming companies would be affected, but people would still need computers, and all their components - including vid cards etc. I think MS even stands to make more money because they can sell their HTPC media extender so...

windows: much seperates windows from mac os X - particularly mac os X's free-bsd (unix) roots. Most see the differences in the ability to play games though.

Intel: most people buying quad core processors are businesses. I work for an ISP, and we are virtualizing nearly all of our old machines with by replacing them with newer, much beefier machines. This means a quad or 8 cored machines that can do the work of 4. It saves rack space in our server room, they are more energy ...

uhhh you've got it backwards. If anything google holds most of the cards - particularly after their acquisition of double-click. If anything, this purchase could drive advertising costs down quite a bit. Even if they purchased Yahoo, Google's lead is so dominant they'd still be in a distant second. I like google just fine but they are by no means "the little guy" here.

I believe other comments to be correct. Yahoo is either speaking with someone else who wants to bu...

owning the most used browser and controlling the 2nd and 3rd most used search engines would make them a very strong competitor in my opinion.

I'm surprised so many people are believing this because EGM says its so. thats the surprising thing here. Please read my above post, this article is out of context. in a nutshell, their exclusivity contract expired at the end of january. they are still releasing titles on HD-DVD and they have yet to enter into any contracts with the BD group allowing them to release BD titles. All this simply means is, their old contract expired. Thats it. Anything else is pure speculation, but that se...

I already tried to report it, as well as replied with a post suggesting this isn't news but hey, give a fanboy a cup of gasoline and just step away I guess.

The only thing that is known and confirmed is that Universals exclusivity contract has expired. They have **NOT** engaged into any contracts with the BD group which would allow them to release BD titles, at least not yet. The contract expiration is OLD NEWS too, it ended at the end of January. They are still releasing tit...

wow man. Shame on you for reading the news! I cant believe you actually got disagrees for this one. You are 100% correct. The only thing that can be completely confirmed here is that the exclusivity contract has expired. thats it. end of story.

it's known that the contract for exclusivity has expired, but they have made no announcements that they plan to put anything out on BD. This is not news.

I'm running one of the "older" 2 x dual core xeon's @ 2.66 ghz with 6 gigs of ram + 1.5 TB in RAID 0, and I still haven't found anything that slows this thing down - particularly after I archived/installed leopard.
I used to run windows in bootcamp, then I ran parallels for a while but just haven't had a need to boot up into my windows install for months (not much of a pc gamer). these pro's are some of the best machines you can buy for the money, but they don't come cheap. S...

I've said it before, but just as a recap since the articles are just as repetetive.

what n4g has become:

1)2008 will be sony's year
2)Blu Ray Winner! or ANOTHER HD-DVD FIRE SALE THE END IS NEAR!
3)HD-DVD Still kicking
4)Game X no longer exclusive!
5)Game X still exclusive after all!
6)Is the WII bubble about to bust?
7)Developer X claims ps3 power completely untapped!
9)Microsoft = teh Dumb?
10) silver/black/pink/red/bl...

sure he is. Not that the ps3 is known for its warranty returns, but less power consumption = less heat = an even more reliable product.

6554d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

the die shrink is great news and it could mean cheapers ps3s that produce less heat, but its not just as simple as, "alright lets make em smaller now!" Manufacturing processes are as such that it would take MONTHS to get plants mass producing them whilst stepping away from the 90nm/65 they are at currently. At any rate, its how things get cheaper, but probably not for a while.

ok, so spending 80 would be a loss even though it upscales regular dvds as well, but instead spending another 400.00 is the way to go. great advice.

the ps3 is a great console man, but an addon for $80.00 is also a good value. you can go out and buy a nice regular upscaling dvd player for about that which doesn't have any hd-dvd capabilities. Plus, for those poor schmucks who already own an hd-dvd add-on and are concerned that it could one day break, this is a nice affordabl...

you cannot upconvert movies to 1080p just watching them through the console. you can set your console resolution to whatever you like but when its playing movies its @480i/480p unless being played through the add-on. Furthermore if you want to watch them in 1080p you need either the vga or hdmi cable. This is not a limitation of the console but a requirement for hdcp.

yes it does upconvert dvds.
