Let's boycott this one too! You can't just announce sequels. Who does that?

Before I get flamed, I own, and like both systems. Cheaper is better. End of story. The less expensive the console, the more they can sell. This is a good thing for consumers and I'm kind of stunned that we actually have people so dedicated to a console that they'd rather not see the price adjusted. I realize that Sony has a profit to make, but its always been a model that lends itself to making that up in software.

The market is incredibly bad right now. Sony is down 2%, msft down 10%, Google is down. This has nothing to do with e3 and whatever the perspectives on each companies showings are.

I'm far more concerned about mortgage debt and how two companies who own most of the mortgage debt in this country have lost over half their value. Thats far more terrifying than sony losing an exclusive or whatever...but I guess thats not really "gaming news" either.

I don't think there's as much money there as you think. With pay to play games, such as WoW and others they also cost a rather large sum to run. Sure, there's a profit there but it's not all gravy. As more players hop on more computers need to be added to run the db's and worlds that people are paying for. Furthermore, commitment to single games as popular as WoW slow the sale of future games in the pipe, as not as many are interested in them anymore.

You don't have to be a c...

how many articles we end up reading here about how its *NOT* dying. It's not too often you don't get "news" on something that isn't happening.

price drops are good for the consumer. Here's hoping MS slashes the price on the 360 to motivate them to do the same.

Sony made the right move with the "trojan horse" product, toshiba should have emptied out more of their pockets to get more exclusives on board and didn't. MS can't be the lone entity responsible for hd-dvd's failure. ya they could have/should have put an hd-dvd drive in the xbox but they didn't. Coulda shoulda woulda its over. very few people actually care about the format war especially now that its over.

the guy who's one of the creative developers behind HOME suggests it's the best he's ever seen. sweet didn't see that one coming.

Fox has been trying to badmouth gaming in any way it can. Blame games for stupid parents. Blame mass effect for making kids horny. Great!

Fox: the Jack Thompson of "news."

and by that I mean not at all. 1st! and probably only - dead scene anyone?

I'm not standing up for the XBOX here, I'm saying that as journalists, limiting their coverage limits their reader base. You don't have to agree but don't construe my words to mean that I'm calling them wrong on their statements regarding the reliability of the xbox. If N4G cut out any console coverage, I'd stop reading them too. I like getting all angles of the story and info personally. They are suggesting they will no longer review games until the xbox is..fixed? Since there are thousan...

I mean come on. Put out a scathing review of the xbox, I'm down with that. Not reviewing games that MS has very little to do with making in some cases? Limiting your coverage limits your reader-base. End of story.

people who like games will go out and buy the games they like. They should also be HAPPY that more people can share the same experience.
I HOPE more games go multi-platform because that means more people can play it. That means halo, bioshock, mass-effect for ps3 as well. The fans may say they wouldn't play, but more options is typically something a reasonable person appreciates. When more peeps can play the game across multiple platforms, it means it'll move more consoles too. Mo...

the packaging looks the same. the players look the same. the discs look the same. Joe six pack still cant tell the difference between upconverted movies and BLU/HD-DVD. In fact, J6P couldn't even tell you what a "BLU RAY" is. Not only that, but most go out and buy really expensive TV's and upconverting DVD players to NOT set them up properly: watching SD in stretch-o-vision and then bragging to all their friends about how "great it looks". DVD isn't going anywhere any ...

please never cite wikipedia as fact. particularly since the articles you link have very few sources, and aren't even formatted properly for wikipedia, suggesting they are not well researched, confirmed, or written by a trustworthy author. yes, wikipedia is a great resource but do not refer to it as your only one. Its reader maintained, hence why its called a wikipedia and not, well, an encyclopedia.

6543d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

you have not stated any fact. A little digging will prove that Toshiba, NOT ms was the vested entity in hd-dvd. MS wanted to be able to say their console could do what the ps3 could feature for feature and so they let toshiba manufacture the drive. Before I'm dubbed and xbot you should know I own both, and calling anyone sheep isn't the way to open up discussion, particularly when you are stating opinion as fact. ms can easily license a BR add-on and its not defeat either, unless you cons...

You are absolutely right but its hurts too many fanboy ears to hear it, hence the disagrees for stating PURE FACT. Futhermore MS only cared for hd-dvd as much as much as they got kickbacks for their HD-I being used over the java based solution sony wanted to use for their interactivity. People don't like hearing that either. Its always very black and white, Sony vs MS when it was Toshiba vs Sony from the very start. MS stands to benefit any way the pie is sliced, so in many ways, they play...

dvd sales are significantly higher than those of blu-ray and all movie downloads combined. EASILY.

sure do, and I'm not trying to say physical copies are going the way of the dinosaur. Try EAC for ripping your music off cd's. It's the best I've encountered, hopefully it may work out better than what you were using before...provided it wasnt already EAC (exact audio copy).

then I think we are pretty much in agreement!

here's one thing to consider though: hd content is already being successfully streamed to MANY living rooms via comcast on-demand. sure that's not happening over a 1.5 meg dsl and the same people without broadband are probably the same people who need movies the most, so again - hard copies are not going anywhere. I just sometimes see the knee-jerk reaction people here have to DD's and it always leaves me a little puzzled. I just ...
