What more can you expect from wannabe tinpot dictators? They ramble on about protecting "our freedom" yet, when criticised they act like a juvenile mob, lashing out at everything in their path. I said it earlier, they have already lost the battle on this one, because unlike their other major and publicised operations (like clambake and Payback), here they inconvenienced gamers and consumers, and much like anonymous, the general public do not forgive nor forget (when slighted), once ...

That was sadly spot-on. What a wasted opportunity from Bioware to deliver a sequel that's truly worthy of Dragon Age: Origins. Instead, we get a disc filled with lukewarm DLC. It's not looking good for either ME3 and a possible DA3.

It is rather, but his criticism of the game is valid and he makes some very good points. After completing DA2 last week, I felt the exact same way, but I would have probably scored it a 6.

Bioware really dropped the ball with DA2.

So true zeal0us.

By the way, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and accept that he's probably on vacation somewhere in South America, however what's more damning is the allegation that he tampered with evidence.

Now we know where all those donations went... a ticket abroad, and some cash to hide in South America for a few years.

That's the impression I got as well.

Act 1 was terrible, and I almost returned the game because of it. Why they couldn't just incorporate all those fetch quests as part of the first year as a mercenary or smuggler, I'll never know (unless we're going to see year One: DLC).

Act 2 was very good and they could have easily ended the game there (the Arishok-Qun storyline was brilliant).

Act 3 on the other hand, spoiled it for me...

It's an o-k game, hardly as terrible as some proclaim it to be, but not nearly as brilliant as others hope it should be. Dragon Age 2 is the epitome of a slightly above-average game. It improves on some things about DA:O but on the other hand it drops the ball on others.

In other words, 6/10.

PS: Someone mentioned the ending or the last Act (Act 3), and yes that did feel incredibly rushed. It just didn't feel right. Act 2 was what DA2 should have b...

When The Escapist gave Dragon Age 2 a perfect 10, that removed them from my list of credible review sites. Not because I personally considers Dragon Age 2 to be average, but rather that the second a game gets a perfect score (regardless of serious flaws), warning bells should sound.

Most definitely! I generally avoid the reviews from major sites, and rather base my purchasing decision on the countless number of smaller sites. That's not to say that all smaller sites are trustworthy, but I've noticed their reviews are a lot more meaningful than the IGNs of this world.

It boils down to a simple realisation, "When reviewers are wined and dined by Developers (or Publishers), can we truly accept their reviews as being unbiased?" or for that...

I'm not interested Peter. I learnt my lesson well with Fable 1 and 2, The Movies and Black and White. Not buying Fable 3 seems to have been a wise decision, therefore... the next Fable game won't even be on my radar.

So the future of gaming is blurry with lots and lots of bloom? It does look pretty though, especially the water.

The bar animation is the same as the one they use in Mass Effect 2. The same sip it down and shake head animation.

I couldn't have put it better LordMe. I can understand why you would lose either Carver or Bethany depending on whether you roll mage or warrior/rogue, since you can't start with two mages, but why confine our choice? For the most part, DA2 feels as though I'm merely watching an interactive movie (one that encourages button mashing in some areas). There are no real choice or repercussions, nor are there any real freedom to explore the world (or city in this case).

Absolutely, the irony is that universally panned games like Arcadia Gothic 4 and Two Worlds 2 are more RPG than Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect 2. I'm currently making my way through Two Worlds 2 and regardless of its many faults, it's a solid RPG game.

The review hits the nail right on its head. It's definitely a forgettable mediocre action RPG, but when compared to Dragon Age:Origins, it's apparent how dismal it is as a sequel.

5570d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

I find it increasingly difficult to call Dragon Age 2 a RPG (much in the same vein that Dynasty Warriors is not one). At the most DA2 is an action game with some RPG elements. When you compare it to its predecessor, the glaring problems with this game becomes increasingly obvious.

I really wish they didn't reuse architecture, because revisiting the same cave, house, room..etc. again... and again... and again... is just tedious. Same with the lack of variety when you fig...

The strategy worked perfectly for Microsoft the first time round, and I'm sure they'll be keen to replicate.

I doubt it's too soon for another generation of consoles (and games), however... personally, though I won't buy another Microsoft console.

Let me get it straight, PS3 gets hosed in the media and xbox 360 gets a free pass? This is total garbage, and I can just see the inevitable DLC and avatar gear that you have to buy at $2 a pop to make your xbl avatar look like a wrestler.

As a fan of Fire Pro Wrestling, this is utter trash. Why couldn't they just release an updated HD version of the classic games, instead of this nonsense. Comeon, Microsoft...
