Heres the way I see it. At this moment in time, WiiU is the best value proposition for consumers. More good quality game than the other 2 (my opinion ot fact).

Id say im jealous cos im in the uk but it feels like Nintendo are being kind, giving me a week to finish Zelda before they unleash Mario on me. Feel a bit bad for those unable to get away from the fanboy wars to appreciate these games who will be stuck playin knack, ryse, killzone and cod.
Ah well at least Uncharted is out next year.
The disappointments came in the first half of the year with the exception of paunch day and the brilliant lego city undercver. But since August the quality of titles avaiable has been incredible.
Maybe they arent everyones cup of tea but they are certainly mine as I am a firm believer in the philosopy that games should be fun and arent all about how many headshots you can get.

Project cars will be holiday season 2014 but I agree with your point. Its a good time to own a WiiU. Im playing through Lego Marvel on coop right now (loving the split screen actually split between 2 screens with 1 on tv and 1 on gamepad) weve had pikmin, windwaker, w101 and Rayman legends in the past few months with just dance, wii fit and wii sports to keep my wife happy and mario on the 29th (im in UK)

They need more of this, not just in specialist game stores. Good to see they are hitting up US malls over the holiday season. Marketing is looking a lot better this year for Nintendo.
WiiU version is amazing with the local coop split between the tv and thevgamepad so u can fight together or be at opposite sides of the city and theres no annoying screen pull.

Every time a new trailer comes out I get more excited. Less than 2 weeks to go. At least I have Zelda this week to contain my excitement.
The release date of this shall be the same day I get a ps4. Best franchise ever alongside Mario, Zelda and GTA.

Im a Nintendo fanboy but an objective 1. They cant seem to get online right. Take Wii Sports Club. Great game, really good online...unless your opponent has bad speeds, then it becomes impossible.
It also gets a free pass because it doesnt need online for the multiplayer to be fun as hell.
Spot on. WiiU sounds like an accessory like WiiFit. They should have called it something completely different. Even just Nintendo U would have been fine, leave the Wii out of it.

Pointing out that the industry press has made a piece you don't agree with then saying its done a rubbish job before deciding your piece is the definitive strategic analysis of Nintendo's business practices is frankly juvenile.
Why not present the piece as "thats 1 point of view, here's ours"

I think selling 5 mil is a possibilty over the holiday season, however I agree its ambitious. There are more people I know buying a wiiu when 3d world than at launch last year (although I know my market research of 20-30 people isnt conclusive)
The biggest thing Nintendo could do is make mums and dads aware of WiiUs existence. Invade x factor adverts, the champions league and thanksgiving football in the US.
To be fair im not sure anyone was expecting bayonetta 2 or X before holiday 2014. I expect dk:tf in jan/feb with smash bros and mario kart shortly after. Maybe Yarn Yoshi midway through the year and a ridiculous plethora of titles from all 3 next gen at christmas.
