Should change the link to the original article which has a bit more information including some of the charts referenced in the linked article.
** original article also has a link to the .pdf from Sony that contains all this info...**
Digital Distribution requires higher bandwidth, than is currently available anywhere in the USA, in order to be feasible. The move to digital distribution hasn't occurred yet, and likely won't happen for at least another 5 years or so, at least in the United States. Until such time as that occurs, digital distribution will have relatively no impact upon the sales of any physical media. In fact, the exact reverse of what you propose Xi is by far more likely. Blu-Ray will likely significantly i...
I've bought several Blu-Ray movies, each one within a week of release. Most I've bought at Walmart and a couple at Best Buy, and not one of them has been over $30...If you want to know the movies: The Prestige, Flyboys, Enemy of the State, Covenant, and Running with Scissors...
The public schools in this country are ridiculously under-funded and because of that tuition climbs higher and higher each year, prohibitively so. I go to far and away one of the best engineering schools in the country, a public school at that, and the fact that its upwards of $35,000 or more for an out of state student is simply ridiculous. There are only so many scholarships to go around and not everyone can afford that sort of price. Its a bad sign when a PUBLIC school's budget consists mo...
WOW...I have to say I love your tired catch phrases...but to the point, you don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about. You hide behind owning each of the next gen consoles, but you don't know anything about what happens behind either one of them. You talk about the 360 being better than the PS3 for developers and for next gen gaming and the like, but you don't realize that it can't be boiled down to those blanket statements. Each one of those has to take into to account so many...
you get ripped off...they are $0.47 at the Student Union at my University...and everything is marked up there over what you'd pay elsewhere...
There are problems with a few of your arguments...which I will try to to address roughly in order...
1) Windows Vista IS NOT a ripoff of OSX. The most cursory of overviews of it can tell anyone as much. Just because they reinvented the interface and finally have a half-way decent GUI, does NOT mean that its a ripoff of OSX. They are simply providing what the customer expects. Even this new GUI though is not an OSX clone by any standards. I will admit some features seem to have ...
I've been using Vista Enterprise edition for a couple months now (I got an early crack at the release through the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at UIUC) and, though I have to admit it is better now than when I first started using it, the support is simply not there and not one of the games I have play as well on Vista as they do on XP...Things will get better I'm sure, but as of right now there is little to no reason for anyone to upgrade to Vista.
It matters not if it was unprovoked, the simply matter of it is that retaliation such as this is equally as bad in every respect and immature
Omar, by doing this you are equally as bad in every way. As far as I'm concerned, the only difference between either of you is the fact that he's a PS3 fan and you're a 360 fan. Creating a news item such as this strictly to vent your frustrations regarding another forum member is beyond immature. Sir Nathaniel, you aren't much better frankly. Now this is not me sticking up for Hey Zeus, what we has done on this site is ridiculous and worthy of banning...but frankly, he'd be back with another ...
I highly doubt that there was a visible layer of dust, just as I highly doubt that those consoles were all sitting there for 3 weeks. I JUST bought my PS3 last week. After going into stores for the last 2 months looking (and only seeing a grand total of 1 console available in that time frame) I finally found some at the Best Buy near campus. They had a total of 12 at the store (this confirmed by a friend of mine that is a manager at said store) They also had a total of 15 XBox 360's. All of t...
you are also forgetting that Sony controlls more than half of all home movies ever released through their own Sony Pictures group as well as MGM studios...
Freedom of speech is a political construct, it does not apply to websites. That being said, there will always be fanatical people on here no matter what possible regulations could be set in place, so there is absolutely no point in creating regulations about it in the first place. If people are really getting that upset over the presence of fanboys here, simply ignore them or stop coming to the site. For the most part all I do is use this for the occasional news bite now as there is absolutel...
Sony fans are not unique in this, the 360 fans are in general just as bad. There are a few good people on each side of the fence and a few people that straddle the fence, but neither side is any worse than the other or any less fanatical for that matter.
I nearly picked one up just the other day, Walmart was mistakingly selling it for just $100. I would have picked it up if not for needing the cash for gifts for the family...
Funny that you mention studio size when Sony and MGM are by far 2 of the biggest...especially when you consider that Sony controls roughly 40% of the home movie market...
now, you are one of the few people on here that I know NOT to be a child, however do you honestly think dismissing other's opinions out of hand and treating your spoken word as law make you the bigger man? Frankly, you haven't shown much in the way of maturity the entire time you've posted on this site. I'll give you that some of what you've said has been true, or at least appeared so, but you present almost all of your posts in such a "holier than thou" manner that it comes across ...
I will point out that several reviews have stated that there is absolutely NO slowdown whatsoever in Resistance...yet you still claim that every PS3 game suffers from large amounts of this. Clearly they don't all. But to some degree or another, almost every game on every console experiences slowdown...including Gears of War on X360. I know all of my 360 games have slow down in various places, Madden is probably the worst of the ones I've got, but its still present on Oblivion, Dead Or Alive 4...

Believe it or not name recognition is on the side of Blu-Ray right now. Yes HD-DVD is closer to DVD which everyone knows and you can guess what it stands for just by reading it, but Blu-Ray really has a lot more advertising weight behind it right now. Additionally, some of your arguments here are flawed. First off, lets tackle that Blu-Ray is Sony's, its not, yes they are backing it, yes they had a large hand in its development, but it isn't Sony's. Blu-Ray simply doesn't fall into the catego...
