Disgaea 3 and Valkyria Chronicles are better than any of the 360s jrpgs. The latter also received better scores than any of the 360s rpgs.
That was a dumb thing to say.
I actually bought one specifically for jrpgs. It didn't end up being a mistake, but not because the rpgs were good.
Firstly, LO is a hugely overrated game. In fact, despite some nice visuals, it's easily as bad as Last Remnant and IU.
Blue Dragon, on the other hand, was largely underrated.
What really ended up happening for me is that even though I bought the system for jrpgs, I ended up really getting into Fable 2 and the Gears games.

This article is hilarious and pretty much what I expected them to say.
I grew up on jrpgs, so I have to swing their way. I did grow into wrpgs, though. I've put quite a few hours into Fallout 3 and The Witcher, but I've put thousands upon thousands of hours into my PS2 jrpg collection.
I await the day we crawl out the current jrpg drought. Or even the day we get a good one that isn't on a hand held system.
A more expensive console that I won't have to replace.
I wouldn't have either system if it wasn't for tax refunds. Luckily, I get a lot back and have both systems.
That comment is less about me and more about making a point. I like the 360, but I'm not buying another one. I'll get it fixed for free as long as they offer it, but it doesn't excuse the fact that it's faulty hardware. As soon as Microsoft knew their console was doing this, there should have been a ...
Must be nice that 200 dollars is nothing to you. Personally, I have bills to pay. It's not easy for everyone to come up with 200 dollars.
I agree as well. Level 5 is not some kind of amazing rpg developer and I have NO IDEA where ANYONE got this impression.
rpgfan is my personal most trusted website for rpg reviews (it's one of 5 websites I visit everyday), and I have no reason to doubt them on this one. I love my PS3, but I might pass on this one. Face it, even if the PS3 has more and better exclusives, it doesn't mean that every one of them is going to be golden. Look forward to the new Shin Megami Tensei: ...
Felt like a lot of waiting over nothing. What was there was nice to look at, but it was barely anything!
I'm definitely going to have to get used to these controls. I'm playing R2 right now and the controls aren't even CLOSE to the same. The actual control of the character didn't seem too bad to me, but the menus are UGLY. I'm not exactly sure what the jittery visuals in the menus is supposed to be accomplishing, but it just annoyed me.
Overall though, the ga...
Mine still isn't working
Cool, I own both of these games, I can throw out an opinion.
Gears 2 is a good game. It has good single player, and Horde is AMAZING when you're not getting kicked. The first Gears had a better story mode, though. Gears 2 is also incredibly short, and the backgrounds are bland (cave, next cave, another cave...)
Uncharted is a LONG game, and the visuals are much more attractive (not really technically better, but I prefer them). The cover system isn't quite as g...
Because it's become an accepted fact that the system will do this. Microsoft knew about it and all they did was offer to fix it whenever it happened. People were pissed at first, then when they realized no one was going to do anything to help them, all they could do was turn it into a joke, simply to make themselves feel better that they just spent $200+ on something that was, no doubt, going to break way faster than it should.
That's not fanboyism. I own a 360, and have bee...
Gamespot will likely give this game a good a review. Regardless of their tendencies to downplay PS3 games in previews, they usually give credit where credit is due when it comes to reviews (see: MGS4's perfect 10 review, or R2's 9.0, the same score they gave Gears 2).
Mine also had a Hitachi.
Maybe it depends on how big your hard drive is? Mine WAS 40 gigs (the 80 gig I replaced it with was also a Hitachi). Do 60 gig PS3's come with a Seagate?
"and thoes JRPGs including TOV, IU, LR that boosted the Japan sales? "
I own all 3 of those games, and they are all terrible. TOV is frame for frame exactly like every other Tales game, IU didn't do a single thing right, and LR had so many graphical issues it was like playing a powerpoint presentation.
The PS3 didn't have nearly as many, but get this: Disgaea 3 and Valkyria Chronicles, the only 2 games that remotely resemble a jrpg on the PS3 (though th...
I see this comment a lot, and I have a question about it.
Do you say this to mean that Enix ruined Squaresoft?
Personally, I couldn't possibly see it that way. Between the Dragon Quest series, Star Ocean series, and Soul Blazer series (OH HOW I MISS THEE), Enix made better games than Square did even back in the SNES and Playstation days.
Square just let the popularity of Final Fantasy get to their heads. It used to be about making a great game, n...
Atlus stomps a mud hole in any jrpg developer. Other developers don't have the guts to release the stuff Atlus will take on.
When they finally decide to bring some of their better franchises to next gen, SE will actually have some competition (and will probably get beaten, at least in game quality).
I agree, this game looks like the next installment of Xenosaga, not Final Fantasy. Even the hp numbers when you hit the enemies look all metal and futuristic looking.
The graphics look fine (yes, even the in game graphics), but it's the style that disappoints me. I didn't care for FF12's battle system, but at least they had the right idea for a setting.
I enjoyed it (PC version, why would anyone buy anything first person on anything else???)
It seemed to concentrate on combat, which gave it a really different feel than the rest of the game. You never really starve for ammo or health, so it's just a quick, fun time. However, 4-6 hours is being awfully generous. You can beat it way faster than that.
I usually agree with your opinions, Nathan Drake, but I really like my Zune. The fan made games are neat, the absence of a scroll wheel is a blessing, and it functions really well. It's also pretty much the only Microsoft product I know of that doesn't make you pay for additional content.
I keep seeing people say "PS2 and PSOne games"
My 40 gb PS3 plays PSOne games, just not PS2 games. It IS supposed to be that way, right?
I liked the demo (PC) and I will be getting this for sure, mostly to tide me over until KZ2.
I can't believe how many people I'm seeing say that the demo wasn't good. The FEAR 2 demo was AMAZING. I don't know if it just didn't work well on consoles or something, but I really can't wait for this.
