Actaully no it's not. Just because the parts cost $160 doesn't mean the console should.
They still had to spend money working out the best way for them to work together, spend money designing a whole new user interface for it and spend money assembling the device etc.
For what you get $249 is a very good price.
Early adopters being those in Japan who got them last year?
The few issues that they have had have been fixed or are currently being fixed.
@FriedGoat Yes they are.
The PSP did sell quite a lot, the games however didn't because of rampant piracy on the handheld.
It was a shame really, i loved my PSP but i can't wait to get my Vita in 10 days
It will have skype at some point so i guess so.
@PraxxtorCruel That's £340 for quite a lot of stuff...
@tr00p3r That's because the Japanese aren't really bothered about Facebook and they have a Nico Nico Douga app which is the japanese equivalent of youtube so they don't need a youtube app.
Sony have said multiple times that once the Vita is released worldwide they will release a PS3 update that allows ALL PS3 games to be played over Remote-play.
The vita isn't overpriced. It's expensive hardware with an expensive pricetag.
@Neko_Mega All Vita games will be released simultaneously on the Playstation Store and at Retail via cartridge based media. That's where he got it from.
@Claterz How did you manage to get all that for £200 when the console itself is £269 (3G version)?
It annoys me when articles like this claim the PS Vita is overpriced just because it costs more than the 3DS.
It's not overpriced, it's expensive because of the hardware. I don't get why some people don't seem to understand that.
They are still making a loss on each Vita sold and probably will be for the first 3 or so years because of the money they put into R & D for the device (which a lot of people seem to forget about). Also people weren't claiming that they were making a loss, Sony said it themselves.
Why the Disagrees when it's true?

Edit: @above Yes i...
It's not specifically Monster Hunter, it's that the launch games are focused at a western market and a lot of japanese people aren't interested.
Release something they want and im sure sales will increase.
Do Amazon Deliver on Release date though? I'm considering not ordering from there because i've heard that they ship it on release date rather than Deliver.
Edit: Doesn't matter, when you go through to Check-out it clarifys that you will get it on the Release Date. I'm cancelling my order at GAME and ordering from Amazon now.
I Disagree, i think the new CEO is in a very good position. Kazuo Hirai understands the Playstation brand and im pretty sure that he will do everything he can to ensure that the Vita succeeds.
It says Made in Japan
I fail to see how the writer is a so called 'gaming expert'.
In his article he states "This is the only real game that we have on the system, besides the silly little games that come with the Vita". Now anybody with any knowledge about the Vita whatsoever knows that to be untrue. If he thinks that Uncharted:GA, Modnation, Gravity Daze etc. are 'silly little games' then he does not deserve the self-appointed title.
As for the point about the M...
@FriedGoat Just because the parts cost $160 doesn't mean that it costs $160 to make each console right from the get go.
They sunk a lot of money from R & D into the device and the UI for the device so whilst each device will sell for a profit they will have a net loss until they re-gain the money that was spent.
