Though many people are seemingly alienated by the change in camera perspective in RE7, and I understand that, the core of the game is arguably still Resident Evil. In my metacritic review (username: VsAssassin), I stated there that RE7 is a combination of what made RE1, 3 and 4 great successes--The first person view works really well in giving you the scares that RE1 gave you; The nemesis-like chases can be truly terrifying just like when Nemesis chased you around in RE3; The weapon upgrades ...
With Nioh getting all the rave reviews it deserves, I'm gonna flip (and I know I will) if Horizon gets all the 9s and the 10s too!
Based on and judging by the demo, though the devs did admit that their game is directly inspired by From Software's Souls series, Nioh just oozes with identity and individuality. I can't wait to get this game next week!
Well that's not rocket science! Next week will be Nioh for me. Before the month ends, I'll get Horizon: Zero Dawn. I'm not picking up Nier: Automata this month, but that's another exclusive for this month!
"Since Nintendo is best known for their high-quality first party titles, the ball is very much in their court for delivering some of the best console-only titles in 2017." Not hating on Nintendo, but their 2017 lineup--consisting of Zelda: BotW, Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey--doesn't really toss the ball into their court. The PS4 has a lot going for it on this front with Persona 5, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Nioh, Nier: Automata, Gravity raush 2, and the Kingdom Hearts compilation to na...
I still believe this is the direction Capcom needs to take with Resident Evil. The sales may be lower than 5 or 6's, but it doesn't mean there's no success in the latest installment. For me, RE7 resuscitated the ailing franchise. I haven't played a survival horror game three times since Silent Hill 3! Good work, RE7 team!
Edit: And remember, RE5 and RE6 both rode the success of RE4--criminally so--that's why they got those stupendous sales. RE7's ini...
We are excited for Nioh! Just 7 more days!
Skyrim was praised and received awesome review scores even though its story was virtually non-existent, if not "paper thin". I'm sure this game will be just fine. I'm not saying the story will be lackluster, I'm just pointing out a trend among game reviewers. Can't wait for Horizon!
I'm guessing this game is multiplayer first then single player second. I am not that interested in it, but it's getting a lot of hype, so maybe it's good?
I yearn for the day when VP graces the PS console once more. Star Ocean 5, though I'm a fan of the SO series, didn't connect with me--it just felt rushed and could have been more. In light of this, if another VP will be made for consoles (preferably the PS4), I'd want it to be the best in terms of quality.
I hope we get a release date soon, and a mid-2017 at that. The kingdom building could be similar to Dark Cloud's Georama. I wonder how open-ended this aspect of the game will be. Like would we be allowed to choose the location of, say, the item shop? Or would we be allowed to apply different colors, shapes, etc. to the buildings and structures?
It's been a long time coming for Capcom to finally listen to their core fans, but this game is finally a testament to their rediscovered roots applied in a Resident Evil game. I am really pleased with this game!
I am super pleased with this game. It has some design flaws/inconsistencies. For example, the game leans a bit towards trial and error instead of presenting crucial game mechanics (e.g. hiding in the dark or behind cover to evade enemies).
Other than that, it's a well-made game. Without a doubt I can say this is a true Resident Evil game. I am excited for RE8 given they will improve upon everything that works well in this game.
I have been a Souls fan since Demon's Souls, not the Atlus published, but the Asian release--when people were ridiculing it for its graphics. In this light, I will defend Nioh against your comment that it's a ripoff. It is inspired by the souls series, but it's not a ripoff.
After playing each demo, it made me even more interested in it. In fact, the first one sold me to it right after beating it.
On-topic: Nioh will not beat the Souls series;...
That interview could have been more specific, but no matter, I am still way hyped for Nioh that just the idea of a sequel is already making me excited!
In terms of sequel ideas, I have a couple:
1. Adopt a persistent open world (ala Dark Souls) if design-wise viable and possible.
2. Introduce a secondary character that has a completely different story to tell; that or
3. Allow character creation (again if possible and viable in line with Team Ninj...
I haven't heard that SMT will be NS exclusive. I doubt this even, because the SMT series has always been released on a Sony platform.
Ehh, make the next sequel timed exclusive to Xbox again and consider your franchise in real hot water.
@Bloop, Demon's Souls in my opinion is the toughest of the Soulsbourne series. Dark Souls was also hard, but not as difficult as Demon's Souls. Again it's just my opinion, because some people feel Dark Souls is the hardest.
On-topic: Nioh is shaping up to be a truly awesome game. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
Thank you for your crystal-clearing response. Nioh in Feb, then Horizon in March. Horizon comes out late in Feb anyway. :)
I will master the Kusarigama (blade and chain weapon) for sure! I hope the game becomes available tomorrow, because one of the local gaming stores in my country (I-Tech) released a statement about it arriving on the 9th :(
