Yes! Dude, exactly this.

Indie games are superb this gen and actually make me feel like I'm hitting those nostalgia runs from the TRUE golden era of gaming.

But all the mainstream AAA games are all flash and no substance. They're anything but golden era quality. From hackened endings to on-disc DLC to gimped gameplay, to some games clocking in at just under 5 hours and a meager, tacked-on multiplayer...

Seriously, if we were just jud...

Dude, have you seen how many units of GTA Rockstar moves?

Lifetime sales of 20 million is low. GTA V will probably do that in the first six months.

@INMATEofARKHAM

Props, I forgot about that. They actually made some good historic games (Everything or Nothing and the first Godfather game).

Unfortunately, Drazz is more right...and they've destroyed more brands and studios and hurt the industry more than they've helped.

I fear for the future of DICE.

Name me one in-house game EA released under their own label that was "one of the best" where they didn't usurp a studio to do so?

Yeah, exactly.

Poor Sleeping Dogs...

I really, really hate the industry right now. If a game doesn't sell 4 million in its first month out it's considered a failure.

Franchises, brands and IP are held hostage where gamers are FORCED to pay up front the $60 when the game is brand new or see the series die because it wasn't moving "Call of Duty" type sales.

I used to like being able to go out and buy a game when I had the money and when ...

UE3 is already next-gen ready. UE4 will already be next-next gen ready. Remember Epic was trying to convince Sony/MS to ramp up the specs of their new consoles because it wasn't enough to make full use of the UE4.

Everyone here is right, they'll just use the same crap, amp up the shine, framerate and lessen the LOD optimization so it'll appear "next-gen" even though technically it'll just look like a PC game running on "High".

No new engine.

They'll just up the LOD of the character models, add more lighting and maintain the framerate to call it "next-gen".

Activision makes $1 billion on the Emperor's new clothes.

Desmond sucks.

Agent 47 rapes Desmond's skills in every way imaginable.

Gray Fox would be ashamed to be assigned someone like Desmond as a target. He would get that guy aced off in between having his joints oiled and getting a plate waxing at that corner Thai place, complete with a happy ending.

I was using abs as an example. If we go with pex versus breast, it's still the same thing, but dudes don't complain about guys with perfectly buff pex.

And yes, one is ALWAYS going to be viewed as a sexual fantasy because guess what? Guys view women oftentimes as sexual fantasies! Bet that just blew your mind, eh?

The real debate comes down to how men THINK about women, and that's never going to change. That's a cross-cultural thing right ther...

How about it's the only COMPLETE version of the game where no matter what happens to XBL/PSN you'll still get to play as all the DLC characters.

PSV version of SFxT is the only legit version of the game without all that on-disc DLC rape. That at least deserves a mention, too.

It's impossible for me to go back to playing Bond in first-person.

After Blood Stone and Everything or Nothing, all the rest just feel, well...meh.

Maybe they just don't like the game?

4828d ago 2 agree2 disagreeView comment

Same feelings here man. I don't want to play a gimped game because of gimped hardware.

We're seeing enough of that already with these games released during this last cycle of current gen gaming.

I'd love to see the devs do what they want and not be limited drastically by dated tech.

CD Projekt is easily one of the best devs out there and they really do care about their fans now.

I hope they hit it as big as Valve, they deserve it.

Wait what?

So a dude with perfectly chiseled abs and a woman with perfectly chiseled abs aren't the same thing?

A dude made to be a more "perfected" form of himself and a woman made to be a more "perfected" form of herself are two different things?

Guys with long waving hair in Final Fantasy with model-esque qualities and heroism qualities to the nth degree aren't the same as women depicted in games with the same...

Dang the fanboy rage is high in here.

I agree with you man.

These guys either don't download a lot of games or don't pay for the bills, lol.

I have several hard drives full up of games. I keep them around so when I feel like playing them I can, because, you know, that's why we paid for the games, right?

And I don't know about anyone else but downloading full fledged games digitally is getting pretty taxing,...

Not based on those awful alpha videos I've been watching.

War Z is boring, the combat is horrible and there are never a lot of zombies around. Not to mention the game is buggier than DayZ and I didn't think that was possible.

Most actual development costs are in designing new tools (depending on the skill of the engineers and the size of the tools).

But a lot of it also depends on what the game hopes to achieve.

When you look at games like StarForge, Journey, Unfinished Swan, Deadlight, Limbo, DayZ, these games were done on relatively small budgets with much smaller teams than standard AAA titles.

So it is a bit false to say that all forms of game design has sky...

@ZoyosJD

Actually, it's not hard to imagine 20TB worth of data. I think Master Chief is around 50MB from Halo 3, which is pretty big for a single character and that's compressed.

I think Drake, without LOD, was around 3 million or so polygons? With HD textures we're looking at content that exceeds several hundred megabyte, possibly even a few gigabytes.

RAGE is also said to be several terabytes big due to the megatextures.

It's HOW you disagree.

We're in an age of blatant anti-consumerism. It's viewed as a troll if you purposefully stick up for a company who literally violates fair trade.

It's also viewed as a troll when you purposefully defend or attack a game without sincere reasoning (e.g., "Oh this game sucks just because it does"). The inverse is true also for defending a game when a dev/pub has a horrible track record and the game itself looks l...
