But the rationale that they give to Nero's lineage doesn't make sense in proportional to how powerful he is.

It is a really good game. One is my favorite in the series so far. Just wish they put a bit more thought into the story though. I feel like I have even more questions about Nero now than after I originally played DMC 4.

4 was not a good game. Sure combat could be fun but people essentially paid $60 for game with a nonsensical story and back tracking halfway through.

It honestly doesn't matter what they do. People will buy it in droves regardless. This game will sell off of its name alone and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the best selling final fantasy in history.
I honestly don't see what the big deal with a different combat system is. This is a remake, not just a port with pretty graphics. Personally if I wanted to play classic FF7 it's there.
This is supposed to be something new and old. Give and take. Did anyone ever stop to wonder if the ATB battle system was simply used because it was the closest to their vision at the time? It's been almost 20 years.

Unpopular opinion but I've always disliked RE4. Not because it was a bad game per se but I've just always felt like it seemed out of place in the grand scheme of the series. For me RE4 was the beginning of decline of the series, gone was survival horror and tension left in its place action and an over-the-top (sometimes edgy) story that only got worse as the series progressed.
