Actually, the sole reason why people think the Arcade is a Piece, Is because of the development side of things. Since it's the lower denominator of the 360 SKUs, developers have to make games for the 360 without the HDD in mind. I'm sure we'd see a lot better quality games made if the Arcade SKU never existed. By quality, I mean on the technical front with loading times, texture loads, etc.

You're partially right but if it was such a huge impact and value, then all 360 SKUs should be way in the higher numbers.
I admit, I thought the 60gb 360 would surely be at least number 10 or above. To me it's the best 360 available and if I were to buy another one it would be that one. I don't get why people aren't hopping on that one.

Come on folks. Even lassie can see that 840 consoles is a shortage issue.
I would say using Amazon is inaccurate and shouldn't be a viable source for sales.
HOWEVER, it doesn't change the fact that after the PS3 got a price cut, it shot to Number 1 or top 10 on amazon for weeks. As well as the MGS4 bundle. And even the new 80gb is still in the top 10 right now.
So what's the deal with the 360 staying in the 30's rank, who knows.
We'll see what NPD looks like next month.

Ratchet and clank Future runs in 1280x704 resolution @ a locked 60fps with NO install.
So frame rate or resolution has jack crap to do with disc speed.
IMO I wouldn't have mind a one-time install for Uncharted seeing as how the whole game streams afterwards. Cause after each level loading, you guys gotta admit there's a ton of texture pop-ins when you first start. Sometimes those textures take as long as 10-12 seconds before it pops in. Granted, once they are in they look great.
But a small install could have made it immaculate in that area.

Why would they want their main cash cow to die? The PS2 is basically all profit for Sony and is their supporting legs for the PS3.
Plus, the more people that buy a PS2 is a potential chance that they'll buy a PS3 in the future.

The greatest and most obvious example of that is Halo 3.
I think if you read Hsu's original blog post in which this guy is referring to, you'd actually see that Hsu admits that he took part in accepting things.
He even says himself quote for quote that in order to have 100% integrity in journalism, he would have had to not accept anything. But he says he's not 100%.

I think he's referring to purchasing PS3 exclusives so they are not exclusives any more.

What I'm getting from that quote, is that MS is closing down Ensemble. Then leading members are continuing to develope their own studio and continue to suppor Halo Wars, and have other projects with MGS.
Technically it doesn't say anywhere that they are going to be PART of MGS, thus you seem to be right on your guess. They are NOT a 1st party studio.
Honestly, I don't think this is a sign that MS is shutting down. They're quite far from being "dead."
Just because Sony is having great momemtum, doesn't mean the 360 isn't selling. Infact, the 360 has been selling quite well despite the Sony train.
But like you said in your post, years from now you could just be wrong or right. We'll find out.

The 360 had about a 10 million lead when PS3 launched.
Now it's only about 4 million. But I agree that now the price drop has kicked in, the 4 million lead might stretch out longer and will make it hard for the PS3 to catch up. Especially in the states.
