Well think about it this way, if you were in MS's shoes. Wouldn't you try to target the $199.99 price point? Given in all the history of console gaming, it seems to be the magical price point where sales literally hit the sky.
And the 360 has plenty of games out now, and plenty of new games coming. Especially when Gears of War 2 hits, a lot of people are going to buy into the 360. Especially for $199.

I believe Sony is actually breaking even on their console sales. But yeah, I highly doubt we're going to see a PS3 price drop anytime soon. Maybe by next summer.

I agree that price isn't what's selling the Wii. Look at those crazy insane parents buying Wii's off amazon for $500 or more. They're kids want it, the rich parents will buy it.
As much as some dont want to admit it, the whole motion control thing is the big seller for the Wii.

Going from a utter ridiculous price of $179.99 to a still ridiculous price doesn't make it any less ridiculous.
yeah I don't get why some of these so called "both console owners" really really hate one console over the other. I like both my systems for their own merits and their own games. Granted I'm more attached to the PS3 more but not by much. It still doesn't play Gears of War and the tons of RPGs.

Yeah but trophies aren't retroactive. So whoever has been puttin hard hours into the game, probably don't want to do it all over again.
5.1 is right. It CAN add longevity if the user wants to use the feature.
A lot of people buy only one game every month or two, or sometimes longer. Not everybody is wealthy enough to buy a new game everytime they're bored.
So what does that person do when they beat the game 2-3 times? They can choose to tackle the achievements/trophies which is like a game within itself.
