If that's your outlook on business, remind me not to go into business with you. A sense of loyalty and trust is paramount to any venture, after all.
You just emphasised my point. Going multiplatform = Business sense, Sony Exclusive = Loyalty. If this goes ahead, it solely signifies loyalty.
This story doesn't suit your agenda, Jenzo? ;)
R* making games for the 360 would make business sense. If R* were to become Sony exclusive, that would signify loyalty, something too many here disregard as archaic...
He mostly plays preview builds of many games, apparently, so he can make judgements on how they will do in the marketplace.
etownone: people dont buy a console on new IP's
By that logic, Gears of War didn't sell 360s, and Mass Effect will do nothing for the machine.
The PS3 has plenty of system sellers.
It seems that just because he's the second richest man on the planet doesn't mean he needs to have an understanding of the subject matter of gaming...
I agree completely.
Bubble for you, Torch. Not that you need more! ;)
This is quite old news.
This brings up a point that's rarely mentioned. If there is difficulty fitting the data on one DVD, they may simply omit the data completely, as seen here with the day-night textures. That means future games may lose features because of the developer's unwillingness to make it on many discs, and, as said above, switching discs in some genres is abhorrent.
I've lived in Ireland all my life, and have yet to see a HD-DVD. Blu-Ray is everywhere, and it's the only HD Format that's being talked about. Most discussions here don't even mention HD-DVD.
The Format War is only on in the U.S., and it's being lost.
There was Dark Cloud on the PS2, though. That was a launch title, I believe, and it was quite good. Heh, Level 5 developed it, so of course it would be. I enjoyed Summoner, too, but it doesn't compare to other RPGs.
Aye, I'm looking forward for the RPGs to stream out. If you recall the news story from some time ago, there is to be 15 RPGs to be released, both announced and unannounced titles. The 360 has about 7 announced at the moment, both WRPGs and JRPGs, so it's looking wel...
The PS3 upscales DVDs to 1080p already. Sure, it's not a huge difference, but it does. I've watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy in this way, and you can see the difference in the wide open areas, but compared to actual Blu-Ray Discs, it's quite inferior.
I live in Europe, and, other than a demo of the original Metal Gear Solid, I've never played any of the games, and I'm regretting it now that Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming out. If this was released here in Europe, I wouldn't really care what price I had to pay!
Just look at how it ends. No. 10 is that it's free, and it was already mentioned. A jest it may have been, but it really affects the quality of the article.
I do think that the PSN will be able to readily compete with Xbox Live in time. Home is a huge advantage, despite what some people will try and make you believe. Time will tell.
We were talking about games that came out in their first year for both consoles. Even if some are multiplatform, they were still released on the machine.
Although the gameplay does strike you as becoming somewhat repetitive eventually, many of the hands-on, previews, and one review state that there is so much variety in the missions that it stops it from becoming stale.
So, I'm confident! It'll be a feast for the eyes, at the very least.
One of those games had better be Dark Cloud 3! The wait for it has become difficult, to say the least.
I enjoy JRPGs much more than WRPGs, because the former focus' more on linearity and storytelling, whereas WRPGs are much more about Character Customisation and Multiplayer gaming. It's all up to what you prefer, really.
Among the PS3's first-gen titles has been Resistance: Fall of Man, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Soon to come are Warhawk, Lair, Heavenly Sword, and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.
jaehyt - See: Heavenly Sword, Lair.
Home will incorporate many of the Live features for the PS3, except it shall be done in a 3D space, and the Blu-Ray drive future-proofs the console for all the High-Def content that shall be released in the future.
Don't get me wrong, the PS3 has disadvantages too. All the consoles do. I just hope that no one thinks, whether they support the 360, PS3 or Wii, they have a "perfect" console, as seems to be insinuated here.
