This statement by Phil Spencer was a contradiction of his previous claim that a PlayStation version of Call of Duty would be available for several years (meaning finite) beyond the current PlayStation contract. It was made to YouTubers and not the regulator so had no legal binding but could work as positive PR worth the public.

This thread has made me laugh. EvertonFC trying to explain and reading the frustration in his words!

For the record here's the story on N4G about the PS5 price rise. It's interesting to compare and contrast people's responses between that and the possible Xbox price rise.

An N4G user called Orchard wrote: "Outrageous - no one else is increasing the price of their console and Sony could obviously afford to not do this. Also no price increase in the US, ...

@IanTH. That's a really good explanation on how they can be used and for the most part I actually agree and probably do use them the same.

I think with my use of N4G and past moderation experience elsewhere I feel I can interpret, or at least /speculate/ on what vote reactions are saying about a comment! So in something like this case here, a person expressing they're enjoying this game that has just been released, I think some people downvoting are doing so becau...

@DedicatedDark said: “Game's good; having a lot of fun.” I don’t know why people are downvoting him talking about HIS reaction to the game. Maybe the game is bad but if he’s enjoying it good luck to him!

That headline, I'm not sure how to react. Do I get indignant that if I wrote that headline somebody would try to cancel me or can I just do a Beavis & Butthead style laugh?

Gamerant didn’t cry like this when Microsoft announced its intention to buy the mega publisher Activision Blizzard.

Konami has partnered with studios to create these Silent Hill games. It suggests this is what it has done for the rumoured Metal Gear Solid remake.

@SullysCigar - Thanks. Yes, it is unlikely that the CMA will be reading N4G comments for opinions... but you never know! The key is for concerned members of the public, whether for against the deal, is to be able to crystallise the pertinent issue about the buyout's affect that goes beyond the 'I prefer this company, I dislike this company' expressions and be able to presents coherent arguments.

@Abrieal said about Platinum Games demanding that their conflict not be spoken about: "they have plenty of right to ask pretty much whatever the hell they want, as a matter of fact." This here quote is an example of the blind support that games media 'reporters' give publishers that has alienated the gaming community!

Anybody giving Jennifer Hale abuse is an idiot, of course. I certainly don't know what actually happened with the contract negotiation...

@CrimsonWing69 On most UK newspapers sources can be anonymous but they have to verified in some way to the editor, even if not revealing the name of the person, but perhaps revealing the company they're in and how they have the information. Additionally the information has to be qualified, preferably two sources, but can be one. But must be examined to see motivations of source and the integrity of the information.

@porkChop. Well said. Additionally, journalists have to consider whether they are being manipulated.

Unlike the US regulator the FTC which appears to have waved through all Microsoft's previous mega-deals (GitHub $7.5 billion in 2018, LinkedIn for $26 million 2016, Nuance $26 billion 2021). It appears that CMA doesn't blindly allow Big Tech to do whatever it wants. Three days ago it ordered Meta-Facebook to sell Giphy because it would limit the choice of UK social media users and limit advertising.

Also, don’t be deceived by the heavy PR damage limitation going on - the statement released by Jennifer Hale was not a random statement she released by herself - it would’ve expressly been released in coordination and perhaps initiated by Platinum Games. It said nothing negative about Hellena Taylor but also it revealed nothing of substance. For Platinum Games to release this statement now and say they support Jennifer Hale is an sly attempt to manipulate fans into taking sides between the tw...
