@Malice-Flare I think your theory is absolutely right! Microsoft had scored a big win with the PUBG exclusive, the game every PC owner was talking about and PlayStation owners were left empty handed. Epic released Fortnite Battle Royale for free and it quickly filled that gap / especially as it had no competition on PS4. It also helped the game grow on XBO.
Blue Hole studio made a miscalculation in taking the exclusive money from Microsoft because it kept their game out o...
Going from creating games to making avatar clothing was a big change. There was a big window of years in length where they no longer released traditional games. Their talents were wasted. It’s good that they’re ‘back’ doing what they do best.
I wouldn't get too upset by the ports. In the first 8 months of its launch the Switch had two brand new triple-A games released for it, a Zelda and Mario game. Nintendo have confirmed that other loved franchises are coming like Pokemon and Metroid - but they take time to be developed. So what is a good solution is taking some classics from the Wii U and updating them. It had such a small install base so this means there are great games that finally get to be played by a big audience. It ...
THIS is why people shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the idea of Amazon getting into gaming! Three years ago all the speculation seemed far-fetched, now they own the biggest streaming service. Is this free games offer with Twitch Prime their last move? I think it's realistic that they will make more steps in the future.
I don't know two of them! Who is the blonde girl with the short hair and who is the teddy bear with the expression like she's getting ready to stab you?
Look at the patent, notice the name Mark Evan Cerny! This means he's the man behind this. Hopefully he's still partnering with Sony. He made many great design choices for the PS4 so he would be a big win for the PS5 design.
@Septic - why do you have to always be so immersed in the hardware wars?! The PS3 install regular userbase is much less then it used to be. Ubisoft’s recent sales figures showed last-gen games are less than 5% of their total game sales. So if Sony will stop supporting PS3 & Vita and probably give more support to PS4 and PSVR then that makes sense. Also ONE YEAR’S NOTICE is very reasonable. People who have a longer subscription are likely so invested in PlayStation that they own a PS4...
What a great month! Ratchet & Clank looks gorgeous on PS4 Pro and Bloodborne is hard but good - I sold my disc copy before I completed it so this will be good for me!
You have to be realistic, they are the only publishers that can afford the licence and be able to put together the massive manpower teams that can produce these games.
The only alternative is that after the EA deal is over, Disney solicit publishers with one game projects. This might work out better as there will be no risk of a publisher spreading themselves thin (and quality falling) if they only have one Star Wars game to make. It also means a greater variety of games an...
This article is premature; Red Dead 2 is launching at the end of 2018. GTAVI won’t launch before the end of 2020 at the earliest.
Why wired?
' “It’s not a delay, ” EA’s finance chief Blake Jorgensen tells the WSHJ. ' Not being released at the original date and postponed to the next year actually meets the definition of a delay.
'Power of the cloud' I've heard that before! Of course it's theoretically possible. GeForce Now, OnLive & PS Now has demonstrated that cloud computers can run a full game for people, so 'the cloud' would definitely be able to boost the game of those who are already playing a game.
The problem comes from the business model, it would require an internet connection and not everybody has one or a fast one. Additionally consumers and media compare t...
Nonsense. No way is this going to launch one week after Sony's after big game, God of War.
Those are amazing sales figures for a game that is offbeat and different. Well done to Sony for backing it and not being short-sighted by only producing 'mainstream' games. I loved it.
In many ways I think Uncharted 2 is perfect. It takes everything from the first game and builds and expands on it in just the right way.
But also I have a deep love for Uncharted 1. I played it the Christmas it was released. There was no expectations of it. It was just this brand new game about a hero, Drake, that took us on a hell of a thrill ride. It came from nowhere and was so great and so I will always love it. I won’t criticise anyone who finds it the best!
This is the stone age because it's the first generation of VR - but that's not a bad thing! I have a PSVR and use it with a PS4 Pro and it's great. This doesn't mean it's perfect because there are things that will improve over the years on all formats, for example having a higher resolution, free movement and improved controls. But right now there are some great experiences that demonstrate the power of immersion that comes from VR. But also full games like Resident Evil 7...
@Pantz - Console warz for life?!
I like Keighley. Part of his role is to build up hype for these awards but in past years that hype for new announcements has not been warranted. So for this one I do hope for a good surprise will adopt a 'wait and see' attitude!
Well said brother. I’ve never seen such unified agreement in the comments before!
I understand that a website requires ads, but they are done so badly and obstructively it sours the user experience. Many ads take you away from wha you were doing or reading. When on my phone I will read the headlines, tap one story, then get fed up and leave. There has to be a better way?
