The netcode in this game is amazing. I was playing with a friend from the wet coast (I'm on the east coast) while chatting and it took me back to our couch multiplayer games. Its gonna be hard playing SFV and Tekken after seeing what a proper rollback netcode can do.

I've had every Nintendo system since the original NES and have been an avid gamer for 34 years. Don't need the history lesson. And there's a clear distinction between a fan and a fanboy. A fan is someone who enjoys something. A fanboy is someone who needs to defend everything a company does even when it's clearly not in their best interest.
Nintendo has the most rabid fanboys and the company can do no wrong by them. That's why they can get away with extremely anti consumer stances like limited digital releases (Super Mario 3D All Stars) or never dropping prices for their games. It's as if Nintendo is judge by a different standard than MS and Sony.

It's not so much that it's first party. But people would rather see more iconic characters with a broader appeal than some that cater to a specific crowd. Only people who played Xenoblade Chronicles and are familiar with these characters would get excited. Same as the Fire Emblem characters. Yet put Waluigi in there and people would flip out.
