To deviate too, wtf do people actually think Gears 1 & 2 look good? They look much of a muchness in comparison to UT3, same style, same treatment, same 2d sprites for effects. It doesn't look bad, but it's nothing super wonderful either.
It had dialogue on par with Haze, and Epic must hire the worst voice actors in all of gamings history.
It's fun yes, mindless fun. If it were multi platform it wouldn't rate half as high though (imo anyway).
Cool idea with the shattering glass and water, looks very much like Bioshock though rather than a progression. Not a bad thing, but yeah things have moved on.
As for the UE3 engine, sorry but while the most used it's an engine I'd like to see put out to pasture to be honest. Bioshock was about as good as the engine got.

Also, if you honestly can't see some of KZ2's achievemnets as a gamer, then you're being a little less unbiased than you think I'd say.

I got bored of the first one very quickly and never finished it, rented 2 and wasn't all that impressed either tbh. I guess having played a lot of Epics previous games (Unreal/UT series) it just felt pretty typical.
Cover system and roadie run were good though! But yeah, those two elements do not a game make.
Oh and imo HL2 and Ep2 were magnificent games (apart from HL2's ending), in a league of their own. Not even...
