Well, it's a vicious cycle. Look at what happens when devs DO try something new or different (Ico, Alan Wake, Okami)... no one buys them. So devs react by making the types of games that sell.
Now THIS is how you do exclusive preorders. Make it available to everyone later on =)
Depends on the pacing and design of the game. It can be great in some titles, terrible in others.
Art design > technological prowess. Tech will always get better, but a gorgeously designed game can stand the test of time.
Indeed. You want to branch out the franchise, fine. But make it an insular or new story. Don't try to fill in main MGS events with a game not aimed at MGS fans I feel.
Rumor has it the DLC pack includes the 3 preorder guys, 2 new guys, 2 MP maps and 2 Escalation maps.
Fingers crossed.
Personally, I'd love an SP bonus mission, with a boss battle against, well, me.
I have to agree. The term "AAA" has been abused and misused so much lately, it seems like everyone has a different idea of what it means and just tosses it out without thought.
If the game is fun, that's what matters, and Crackdown 1 was cool. Why not give the sequel a chance people? Does it ALWAYS have to be about fanboy wars?
Indeed.
Why should I care about their opinion (that they are entitled to)?
It's very rare though to please everyone and make a game EVERYONE will love. It has nothing to do with greed, HD games cost tens of millions to make, and VERY few titles break even, even in this day and age. Devs in the end are just trying to SURVIVE, because this current market model will NOT sustain itself.
Nope.
HD Metal Gear... Shadow of the Colossus... 60fps... mmmmmmm.....
I disagree. The camera is pretty bad in tight/smaller spaces, and any time you get near a corner or wall. I should be able to focus on the combat, I should not have to realign the camera because it chose to swivel away from the action.
The boss of the Aquaduct is a prime example of the camera getting caught on characters and geometry. No game is perfect, and while I can DEAL with it, I shouldn't HAVE to at this point. It's just poorly designed.
Because I like to support developers by purchasing quality titles, even if I don't get to it for a few weeks.
Fix the atrocious camera.
Even when devs try to do that, such as Transformers and Bioshock 2, you'll STILL have people who don't enjoy the MP or see no "value" in replaying the game. You can't please everyone.
Yup.
Scores are arbitrary and made up on the spot. Opinions, not fact. I've enjoyed plenty of "mediocre" games.
Prime example? I had more fun with Army of Two than I did with RE5.
It's not JUST used games, it's a combination of perceived benefit/cost, consumer mentality of value, the ease of trade in.
I just don't get why people don't just either rent, or actually REPLAY games that they own. Hell, I replayed Turtles in Time over 40 times as a kid. Nowadays it's buy a game, rush through in a weekend, then trade it in. I don't get that mentality personally.
Many people will argue that games need to offer more, and...
Me too. I wanted an "adult" LoZ for so long back in the day that I hated WW when I first saw it... until I played it. Now I really miss that wonderful style! It was so beautiful.
Still, it's Zelda, it will be great regardless. (And I urge everyone to check out Darksiders, also a really fun Zelda style game).
Bungie's always been really good about supporting their community.
I have to agree. Does no one replay a game for FUN any more? I replayed SotN over 20 times. No Trophies, no achievements, just a fun game that I enjoyed doing over and over.
