I don't know if either of you guys have played the game for yourselves, but watching a youtube video doesn't necessarily do it justice. Hell, I didn't have high hopes for the game either based on videos I had seen prior to release, but I kept my pre-order, just because I figured if nothing else it would be a good game to show off the fancy new graphics.
As for how the combat is strategic, there are different types of enemies and different ways to approach each one...
I love how anyone who says this game is good gets a bunch of disagrees.
There are two possible reasons for this.
1) XB1 owners who bought the game and genuinely didn't like it.
or the more likely culprit:
2) PS4 fanboys who just want to hate on it because it's not on their system.

Agreed. I thought I would use them a little at first just to try them, then never use them again, but I'm totally sold.
After using the PS4 for UI for a week, then hooking up my XB1, it was like jumping forward another generation. The user experience is light years beyond Sony's UI.
This is all just my personal opinion of course, and I may be in the minority, but I am REALLY impressed with how amazing this console works. The multitasking is brill...

Agreed, I'm not sure why this game has gotten such a bad rap, I think it is brilliant.
The combat is a great balance of timing and strategy, and you really have to be on your toes to do well.
I love it. I just wish I could talk one of my buddies into getting it for the co-op.
Ryse is awesome. I don't care what anyone says.
The combat reminds me of the first Assassins Creed, only deeper and not reliant on countering.
It's really a blast.
I played dead rising with a buddy for hours yesterday and it runs great. I don't know what the reviewers were doing, but I saw no frame rate issues at all. Same with Ryse. It seems to run fine to me. Maybe they didn't have the day one patches when they did their reviews, I don't know.

XB1's UI is a thousand times better than the PS4's, in my opinion.
I know I'll be outnumbered on this site of course, but for me the XB1 is superior in every way. (except of course for a little graphical horsepower)
It's amazing what people will buy on ebay when it comes to these limited edition things or retailer exclusive pre-order bonuses.
I know a guy who buys a copy of some games from multiple retailers, then sells the extra copies on ebay, as well as the pre-order bonus codes, and ends up getting his copy of the game for free or making a profit.
I think if anything they will do a digital only version with no disc drive.
That way they can begin to bring people over to that way of thinking so they can go full digital with their next console, and bring back their initial vision for the One.
They are NOT going to remove Kinect. I really would be absolutely amazed if they got rid of it at this point, it just wouldn't make any sense for them from a business perspective.
Maybe I'm weird, but I think that even without using Kinect the Xbox One UI is better than the PS4's. I kinda think the PS4 UI is a mess, but then I was never a fan of the XMB either. I hated that.

That's what is great about having two consoles that aren't the exact same thing with a few different games.
Have you played it, tagan? He's right. The combat is very much like the pre-AC3 Assassin's Creed games. Minus the ability to just wait around and counter your way to victory.

NewMonday I have to disagree with you on the "organized UI" bullet point.
I think the PS4's UI is absolutely horrible.
I never liked the XMB either, though.
At least this is marginally better, but I predict it will get to be quite the cluttered mess once you build up a library of downloaded games.

I think there is a nearly ZERO percent chance that they ever release a Kinect-less model.

Having that instant access to a 30 second clip without stopping at all was a stroke of genius.
And I'm not sure if you noticed or not, but you can see your friends clips that they captured that way, even if they don't go through the trouble of trimming and uploading them. ...
