This is a mid gen upgrade device without many games that use the upgraded tech just yet. This console will have legs and take some time to build up in sales. I don’t know why anyone would expect this to sell out. Refresh models usually don’t.
What has Nintendo done along these lines? The Switch UI is the most basic and bland of any modern, hell they don't even have custom themes like even the 3DS did, let alone ads or demos getting pushed to it randomly.
Yes. When I subscribe to a cheap service like GamePass, I'd expect ads and interference to try and bag more of my money. But when I pay full price to BUY a game, and a premium console, I don't want to see ads and crap that I don't care about getting in the middle of my experience. If I want to see ads, I'll go to the digital storefront and have them recommend things to me there. This is yet another bad move by Sony to follow in Microsoft's footsteps.
Blizzard was on its way out when Activision merged with them. Now that Microsoft owns them, whatever spirit of unique game design they used to deliver is long gone in favor of being a corporate game manufacturing plant. I don't hold out much hope for their future games, especially if they just end up on GamePass where they become throw away.
I miss the days when they built unique IP like Rock N Roll Racing, Lost Vikings and the original WarCraft formula (WarCraft II i...
Twisted Metal: Black is when the series really hit for me. I still love that game so much. It was kind of downhill for the series after that IMO. I'd love to see the series go back to its roots, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for David Jaffe coming back from where he is these days to oversee development of a competent sequel.
Thats fairly common these days. Games are designed with DLSS in mind. There's a reason Sony is implementing that type of tech on PS5 Pro. We're well past the point of diminishing returns on graphical fidelity per watt without using AI top optimize the performance.
Having faster hardware is always a plus. Options are good. The games will keep coming like they have been, which is a lot faster and a lot higher quality than Microsoft, and arguably Nintendo. People seem to think companies can continue to explode the complexity, visual detail and acting quality on games with no change in cost, development time or volume of titles from the same number of studios. It's not realistic. And the same folks gripe that PS5 Pro is $699 and is better bang for...
Deck doesn't need a "fighting chance". Specs have never won in the grant scheme of things. Value has, and the Deck has significant value and usability advantages over its so called "superior" competitors. Ask Nintendo how being in 1st place in sales in the next gen race with last gen handheld hardware works.
You’re not going to beat this console for under $700 with a PC. No way, no how. You might approach it at $1000 buying some low tier parts and a used 7800 XT which retail for about $500 alone. Good luck getting a compact case, 2TB M.2 SSD, motherboard, RAM, PSU and a Dual Sense for anywhere near $699. I know, I just bought a 7800 XT and built a mini PC.
PSVR 2 was never going to reach a bar critics would say is a success. Even the PS Vita didn’t achieve that and it was still a fantastic platform with excellent games. PSVR 2 shows Sony is willing to take risks to make new types of content. MS basically bowed out of VR completely and it’s kind of baffling.
That is awesome. Sony clearly got the memo with the Astrobot series. It’s a love letter to what makes gaming great.
That’s great, as long as they don’t try to turn it into some sort of IAP ridden GaaS product. Hopefully Concord showed the industry how gamers react to being taken advantage of by that type of service model.
Not surprised that gimped console is holding back multiplatform releases this late in the generation. It was bad enough earlier on before the engines became more demanding and capable. That parity clause is bonkers at this point.
Lame
Smugglers Run 3, please!
I suspect any launch bugs will be patched quickly. I factor that in launch reviews. If this got an 8 with bugs, then I’m excited.
The Steam Deck is PS4 Pro level for $349, and it does a lot more than Switch or PS4 Pro. This seems like some bunk guesswork going on.
This is a fantastic bundle
Perfect timing with the PCVR support coming in just a few weeks.
That’s quite the entitled headline. Poor, poor gamers with all of our gaming choices. Having said that one excited for the sequel. Surprised it’s happening at all since gamers only seemed to give it a cult following back when the original launched.
