I’m super excited for this. I hope it can be finished at some point.
These all look pretty great. Skyrim VR upgraded with some of the amazing mods and running on a high end PC is really unlike anything else I've ever played, except maybe Valheim: VR.
Let me guess, you're the "EGS Defense Force"? Objectively looking at what the Steam client offers vs. EGS for that 30% cut (which Sony and Nintendo still charge) is pretty relevant. EGS is not a superior product, does not offer superior features, is only relevant because Epic gives way free games to entice users to use the platform, and Sweeney resorts to suing his competition instead of actually competing. Its pretty easy not to be on his side IMO without being on the "...
The Devs said it was due to Nintendo Content Guidelines. Even they seem somewhat baffled that they had to make changes but Witcher and Cyberpunk did not have to be censored.
AdHoc: "As Nintendo states, any game that’s going to be on the Nintendo platform needs to ‘meet [Nintendo’s] established content and platform guidelines.’ This is the key point. Nintendo has content guidelines. Our game didn’t meet those guidelines, so we made changes that would allow us to releas...
Deku Deals is hardly a cross section of the gaming community, lol.
Lame. Still treating the platform like it’s not for adults.
No PC release? Bah. I’m not investing in Quest games if it can be avoided.
A bit better clarity on Switch 2 but runs at higher frame rate on Deck with a better OLED display for true HDR. Hmmm….
Good for them. With AI coming for their jobs and their new corporate overlords working overtime to replace them, it’s a smart move.
Square’s games like Chrono Trigger on the SNES and many of the N64 games being $72 comes to mind. A great era defined by PS1 bringing prices back down and massively expanding the number of games available.
Agreed. And if I can’t get a full fat physical copy for my console of choice (usually Switch) I just buy a copy on Steam once it’s on a few discount.
I don’t mind 30fps if the input latency was 33ms or lower. But it feels like it’s around 300ms or higher. It’s jarring, but can be adjusted to. The frustrating part is that there’s no option to turn off DLSS to reduce the latency at all, and my save was force-imported into the new game where it’s now stuck. I have hundreds of hours into my save so I'm hoping they smooth this one out based on all of the critical remarks about frame rate.
So, DLSS4 requires a $2000 rig and only works on a few dozen games vs. FSR4 that’s open source and looks 90% the same with lower performance overhead and easier implementation for devs. I’ll always prefer FSR since it’s more universally usable and the GPU’s that support it are half the price.
That’s awesome. Thanks Sony!
Though it launched last month, I highly recommend Forefront. Is essentially Battlefield in VR.
Better late than never. This will make Windows feel at least usable on handheld PC’s even though it’s still an AI bloated OS that snoops on what you do and reports back to the mothership.
This.
I’m super excited for this. I’m amazed it took so long for one of these companies to quit teasing what a standalone headset could do and finally deliver a full PC OS experience in a VR headset. Thanks Valve. Now where’s that pre-order date?
It’s only happened to me once so far, but agreed. It does cost some gear, which is double irritating.
The biggest issues have been comfort, and the games being too gimmicky / waggly, like Best Saber and Fruit Ninja. But with current tech running the full meat experiences, like Half-life Alyx, Subside, MS Flight Simulator, it’s truly revolutionary.
I personally enjoy the flat 2 vr conversions and more traditional gaming experiences with VR added on, like Gran Turismo and AstroBot, Valheim VR and Forefront, etc. The most immersive way to play some games is in VR, IMO, and I...
