Yep, entitled consumers are "always" in the right to rage mob and throw a fit. Steam is offering refunds if anyone got their feelings hurt over it, so I don't see the issue here. It's a Sony published game, already noted as requiring PSN to sign in. Where is the rage when Microsoft requires an XBOX Live sign-in for a PC game sold on Steam? It's not exactly a new concept.
Guess they had to find at least one glimmer of positive news to combat the poor Xbox hardware sales trends. GamePass stats on game from a 1st party studio that they spent $70bn to acquire are kind of useless IMO, especially when other than Act/Bliz the entire XBOX division was flat. I hope that spike on Diablo 4 was worth having to the XBOX brand go multi platform for.
This is really getting stupid.
It looks technically interesting. However if it’s anything like the last Hellblade, it’s the type of game that will appeal to a niche group of psychological horror / linear gameplay enthusiasts looking for something that finally pushes the Series X. It may be one of the biggest “Xbox” games this year, but I don’t expect it to be industry wide with so many incredible games slated through ‘24.
Hmm, not sure I agree with that. The recommendations I get are usually pretty good, but then again I have pretty large library of games on Steam and hundreds of them in my wish list, along with lots of curators I follow for it to build recommendations off of. On occasion it will throw me a random FIFA game or something I've never bought or shown interest in, but mostly its decent IMO.
“Former” that explains his freedom to just be a gamer now and appreciate the excellent work going on in the industry outside of the Microsoft acquire and consolidate agenda.
I'm glad to hear this.
lol. They also said GaaS / Cloud gaming is the future. Who's lining their pockets?
I can’t wait for the dedicated VR upgrade. I was able to mod it for VR, but it’s never as nice to play a modded game as one with native VR support.
This sounds excellent.
A shiny bore, if it’s anything like the first Hellblade.
I’m glad Embracer is selling them. I hope someone other than MS buys them and frees them up to make great games.
XBOX is the new Atari. I could see them fading away and then coming back in a decade or so once the stench of their horrible corporate practices (always online, DRM, GaaS, no used games, buying out treasured 3rd party IP, copying competitors, cheapening gaming) fades to the winds of change. The industry landscape could be completely different by 2040.
Atari had to learn in a similar fashion. What they were doing to maximize profits was not sustainable for the industry and...
Still not interested in giving into their all-subscription future. Oh well.
This is freaking awesome news!
Consoles should not be bloated and extremely expensive like PC's, sorry. I prefer to pick my console for the quality games it offers. PC's need to stay like PC's. Every time MS has a brilliant idea to merge things, they fail miserably. They had the same idea with Kinect to compete with Wii, Windows 8.1 to force touch interface and make Windows Phone and desktop OS's feel familiar, and they decided gamers would be okay with DRM / always online and no used game resale in exc...
@ocelot07 Facts.
I disagree. Quest 3 has mediocre LCD displays, no HDR brightness, limited FOV and haptics that aren’t even in the same league. PSVR2 could be the best PCVR headset under $500 once support is fully added. Based on what iVRy has been posting they are updating the firmware a lot lately and more PC plug-and-play access is being opened up on the device. It’s a no brainer for PCVR even compared against Quest 2/3. Quality matters in VR as much as content for the immersion. PC will drive PSVR2 ...
The way Microsoft is running the company and how StarField turned out I am concerned Skyrim was Bethesda’s peak.
PSVR 2 or PC plz.
