It was pretty clear to me MS dumped a lot of $$$ into a presence there. GamePass ads every 30 minutes and the extra long presentation for Kojima, who really didn’t show anything substantive. They gotta pay their bills somehow.

“Players”. Even if they only played once and got bored, they’re being counted. Now, “concurrent” players is the number that matters.

Finally. I am so ready for this on PSVR2.

lol, Android tablet? Gross.

Microsoft hasn’t saved anyone, or any IP by throwing their money around. I can’t think of any franchise or company that is better post-MS. I’d rather the company died a natural death for lack of good new content than be put into zombie mode to pump out MS flavored versions of their once beloved IP.

If Portal is a console, then the Nintendo Switch certainly is.

I still love me some NMS. That game keeps on giving and I keep on enjoying it.

And the XBox hardware sales are still terrible, and have not come close to XBox 360 levels despite a range of Series models contributing to that figure.

GamePass being cheap is the only reason they got this far into their slow drip feed conversion into people paying for a sub to play even single player games. Once that price increases, that paper thin brand loyalty will be gone and with it their hardware division.

Good riddance.

“True cloud gaming” is terrible and can never fullly overcome the issues of latency. This, at least, is designed to work over the same wifi network with essentially no latency (barring network congestion or wireless noise). This is a neat device to play from the couch or around the house while someone else enjoys the big screen the PS5 is connected to. Nothing more. And that’s fine.

Take my money. This checks all the boxes I was hoping for a mid-gen revision to, and more.

Happy for you. I personally can’t stand windows on this kind of platform. It’s clunky and very inefficient, iMO. This new deck has enough battery life to actually do some real gaming away from the charger.

“Beat”. C‘Mon. Not every game will outsell the last heavy hitter. Elden Ring is a rare case of epic success for an otherwise niche difficulty level of experience.

You must not have been noticing during the Wii era when Nintendo sold 100+ million Wii’s. They were still doing quite well during Wii U’s short generation due to Wii and DS/3DS sales.

"First party" I hope it was worth $70Bn to pretend like you made that 3rd entry in the franchise possible MS. Pathetic.

Agreed, I'd love it if Kaz came back, and even Ken Kutaragi. A solid, tested CEO with the father of PlayStation. Lets see some innovation in the hardware sector again and stop this "uniconsole" style hardware and annoying GaaS crap that just slaps a different logo on the same box and services and call it "different".

PS3 was vastly different than the competition and innovated years ahead of its time. PSP was as well in so many ways, and both still...

"Gamers"? Those games he bought with that deal were already coming to more gamers on every major platform before he showed how much he cared. What he convinced MS's check writers to buy took all of those IP away from more gamers than it will give them to. Very sad.

Nope. Two talent-less clowns buying/consuming treasured industry talent and squeezing the life out of cherished IP and long-standing teams is not something the industry can sustain. What MS has already done is terrible enough. Can't foster talent, industry relationships, new IP or mutually beneficial partnerships by leading? Do it the MS way - just buy it and try to buy "consumers" along with it. We're gamers, not a bullet point figure on a spreadsheet, Microsoft.

Isn’t that bad English. Shouldn’t it be “It’s a good time to play”.

849d ago 7 agree0 disagreeView comment

This is good news for the industry. Not such good news for MS who has bet the farm and said $70Bn acquisitions to juice subs to this throwaway service.

I like how Microsoft has moved the goalpost, they stopped reporting sales numbers years ago when they earned their way into a distant 3rd by breaching consumer trust with always online DRM. I guess since they’ve fully embraced that model and their consumer base has as well I. The form of GamePass, the best they can quote is hyper inflated numbers of users, even if those users only installed and played for an hour only to get bored and delete it.
