Sony owns SN Systems. Its not exactly a surprise that they are making the Vita tools and compiler, is it?

Frankly, the SN tools are decent -- not as polished as many, but still pretty fair. Mostly its their UI that is lacking. Some tools, like SN tuner (a performance analyzer), are freaking great.

MS kinda has the opposite problem. Beautiful UI. Under the hood... not so great. Plugin support for Visual Studio is the greatest thing -- mostly because it a...

Yeah.. they were in dire straights 5 years ago after sinking billions into the PS3, the economy failing and causing electronics sales to falter, etc.

Wait... something about that doesn't go with your statement, eh?

Do you also think Bush was a saint, and Obama put us into this recession?

If you're talking about Reel Fishing, and Petz Fantasy, those are huge franchises, more than capable of investing serious $$ into a 3DS game. I see like 4 titles (Bubble Pop, Mahjongg Cub3d, and a couple others) before the years end that would honestly classify as shovelware, and I doubt they will do very well at this point in the 3DS' life cycle.

You may see many of the upcoming titles as junk, but they aren't shovelware -- they're...

We don't see shovelware on the 3DS because the cost to make a passable 3DS game is way up from the cost to make a passable DS game. Hence, the little studios and publishers don't push garbage on it, and won't do so until there are so many 3DS units in consumer hands that they will sell copies despite their game being low quality.

The Vita has a big advantage that the 3DS does not, when it comes to lineup -- it has the same amount of RAM as the "big" con...

They won't get 2nd analog support without devs issuing patches for it, and that costs them money.

They aren't gonna do that on old games. Some newer ones have the support built in (MH3), as do some older Sony-made titles (RR). Mostly the 2nd stick will only be useful for Vita games though.

It's not a coincidence that most N4G posters are PS3 fans.

Sony is treats hardcore gamers well... hence hardcore gamers -- the same crowd, not coincidentally, likely to read and post to N4G, like the PS3.

UK English. Not the NA version, sadly.

Maybe the Wii U will be region free (for Wii games)? Woo, that would be a devilish Nintendo ploy, to lure the hardcore into upgrading...

Print magazines require screenshots that are *several thousand* pixels on a side, and this is one of the primary reasons bullshots even exist. Screenshots are often captured for print, and then are recycled several times -- often downscaled for the internet, and then they appear to have "extra" antialiasing, as a natural side effect of that process.

These can be generated at game framerates, and upscaled, or generated by the game rendering a single scene at much hi...

The only reason that rushing wouldn't be a concern would be if the next XBox was hardly upgraded from the current one, and the case was also nearly the same size.

If they shrink the case to, for example, about the size of the Wii U, or produce truly next-gen hardware capable of competing with high-end PCs, they're gonna have the same heat troubles unless they take their time.

The PSP had more great JRPGs than almost any other platform of the past 5 years. They didn't sell because they had crappy marketing, unlike games like DQ9.

All these "PSP was left to die" articles seem to have not bothered to actually *look* at the PSP software lineup since about 2006. The PSP was, and still is, awesome.

Yes, but it won't ship until 2013... unless MS rushes it out the door again.

How do you know this is a downgrade? Do you have details on the reliability of the new fan, motherboard, etc?

...or are you just trolling?

It's already been demonstrated to use less power (meaning it generates less heat), and the fan noise are heatsink changes are only guesses. Claiming that its a downgrade is jumping the gun. It's very likely that the smaller fan is more reliable, as is the case with all such fans, across the board. For all we kn...

You should make sure it has room to breathe. My slim runs cold at all times. My 60GB phat ran pretty hot, even with breathing room.

5376d ago 8 agree3 disagreeView comment

I have a 2500 model, and honestly it's whisper quiet, and never runs hot. If the 3000 model uses 1-2% less power (as reported), because of a smaller fan motor, that's probably fine -- that reduces heat as well, after all, so the fan won't have to work quite as hard as you might think -- most likely the monster fan in the 2500 model was overkill.

I doubt most people will even notice a difference between the two models. For all we know, the new fan is more reliabl...

Laptops are killing PC gaming. The integrated GPUs that come on most cheaper laptops are FAR less capable than the PS3 and 360 GPUs, and the PC games are tailored to include the least common denominator (those laptops) for business reasons.

Laptops are totally taking over the home PC market, and have been for years. It's pretty ignorant to ignore them.

IPv6 is the only thing that can reduce the major problem of OnLive (latency), and it'll be like 10 years, at least. Even then, latency won't be reduced by much, and increasing the speed of light isn't exactly on the table.

It would be foolish to pull a 3DS and release the hardware before the software was ready.

This article, like so many (hopelessly uninformed, from a tech business perspective) VGChartz articles, doesn't factor that in -- it only considers sales. As if the Vita was ready to go right now, and Sony was playing some sort of clever release game with it.

I'm sure Sony will release the Vita over the Holidays if its ready. If not, I'm sure they won't...

This is the kind of game the Wii fanboys used to push with "Wii dev costs are 1/3rd as much as HD games, so developers should go there".

TBH, it looks perfectly fine for a Wii game, or a game with a PS2-era budget. I'm glad devs never did go there. This IS a PSN game, though.

I actually find the arabian theme of the game unique, and cool, though. It might actually be worth the price, you never know.

I would totally be onboard if I had the option to save like $50, and got a neo-GameCube controller, rather than that tablet thing.

I would be more than happy to play games on a Nintendo system if it was simply *the best system*. No gimmicks, etc. Not needed. Best system, and Zelda and Mario too? Sold, no questions.

The tablet controller is a downside, as I see it. I may actually avoid the system entirely, if its not leaps and bounds ahead of the 360 and ...
