I agree, most "RPGs" this gen would never have been called RPGs in the past. Just because you can upgrade things in the game doesn't make it an RPG. Is Call of Duty an RPG since you can pick up different weapons for more firepower? No, but then again now we have people claiming that "all games are RPGs 'cause you're playing a role".

This article makes some good points about the standards placed on video games compared to other forms of media. A lot of DVD covers show a lot more graphic images than any game cover I've seen, even before a ratings system, and yet while they're on full display in stores for children of all ages to see, the ESRB forces a change to game covers for fear of offending someone.

Believe it or not I think SE can salvage FFXIV if they fix the issues and do a relaunch with the PS3 and maybe a "special edition" for the PC with bonuses for people who've already bought it as an incentive to come back. Mr. Yoshida sounds like he really wants the game to work and a positive attitude always helps in a bad situation.
If you have a backwards compatible PS3 you can install it on your hard drive and play it that way. That's what I did anyway.
I think BioWare really messed up with DA2 in a lot of ways that could have been avoided. It seems they took the easy way out in a lot of areas by not just repeating areas but also making everyone bisexual.

When will game reviewers realize that just because they think a game is great doesn't mean that everyone else will and flock to the stores to buy it?
While this man is definitely a hero, I'd rather not have a game made about him. He performed this action in real life, and was willing to sacrifice his own life if he needed to. I don't think any form of media, be it video game or film, could accurately portray the extraordinary circumstances of his actions on that day.
