I think the most important observation was the one that Nintendo of America didn't recognize the potential problem. Japan is one thing, but NOA should have said from the start, 'Hey, let's tone down the minstrel show attributes of this character. It's sure to bring up hurtful aspects of our culture's recent past.'
I'm speaking specifically to the sales decline that has caused their decline in profit this quarter. It doesn't matter if it's outselling everything worldwide if people buying games has declined so much that it doesn't matter. So take a small piece of MY advice. Stop being so defensive and fanboyish that you can't see anything but the brown on your face from kissing ass. What a retard...
they learn from their waiting too long before releasing the DS successor, and get on the ball with the next console. The Wii just may be in this same position within a year. Old hardware that is adequate can become inadequate in a heartbeat when it comes to people's willingness to spend money. You've got to constantly wow people with that old hardware, and the DS just hadn't been doing it for a while.
How frickin retarded... Hey HHG, how about some 3DS coverage? Oh that's right, you don't really give a crap about Nintendo unless you're dogging it or dreaming about stealing franchises. Bleh...
Word has it that the game spread itself too thin in trying to feature too many gameplay styles. That and the graphics and dialogue were said to be horrible. Also, regarding Zangeki no Reginleiv, I wanted to play it too, but it's also being said to be horrible so I doubt we'll ever see it released outside of Japan... A shame, it at least looked cool enough to try as a rental.
but imo the armored characters look like cheap action figures. Iron man looks especially bad. Hulk looks rather poor as well. And I must say after seeing SF vs. Tekken the MVC3 art style looks terrible by comparison.
is an 11 year old doing on XBox live? Even moreso, why without direct and much involved supervision? What happened isn't right, but this is kind of like letting your child be babysat by cable tv when you know one of your channels is the Playboy channel. Eventually he's going to find it by changing channels, or it's going to find him by being the first channel he sees when the tv's turned on. Ridiculous...
But pretty repetitive. Kind of like Borderlands with lesser graphics, awesome swordplay, and near meaningless gunplay.
Nintendo doesn't get undisciplined with their greed. They should stick to their proven formula of 'X amount of profit per console sold is both acceptable, and necessary' without trying to gouge that few more dollars. Then they get their massive install base, steady profitable revenue, and gamers will not worry so much about the price of games so long as the price is within reason for the value obtained.
it had better at least come with Ocarina of time as a pack in as well as a few on disk games. A price of $300 immediately means I'm buying fewer games at launch. I'am already gritting my teeth on $200, but willing to pay it. I hope Nintendo doesn't make this mistake, and Pachter is just talking out of his ass like usual.
only a year later. Hence the comparison to what's going on with the FPS genre. Obviously you don't see a problem with that, and I understand that as of right now it feels much better than waiting 10 years between sequels like with MvC2 and 3. I'm not sure there is a problem either. But I worry about where things may be headed so I mentioned it.
You're forgetting to mention that SF4 came out just a year or so before SSF4 this year, and that Tatsunoku vs. Capcom was also released this year. Not to mention Mortal Kombat is also on the horizon.
very appealing. I worry that the market is being saturated by too many fighting games though. First an FPS every time you look around, now fighting games. At least the fighting games are and appear to be top notch though.
needs to take that risk and be the first to do it on a Nintendo console. I want Pokemon, but I doubt it will happen until someone else proves that customers will pay monthly fees.
I just finally got a 65 inch 1080p TV in place of the much smaller one I'd been using. Buying a new TV is going to be far from my mind for alot longer than 3-4 years.
If it sells well in the Nintendo sense (over time), they'll make another. That's all there is to it...
as possible, but we don't know for sure yet.
but I remained patient with them. The 3DS is the best gaming news I've heard in a long time.
This is the type of thing I like from IGN. If they're going to hog exclusivity then they should have this sort of thing more often.
If IGN didn't hog big name game reviews with their clout, they'd be completely irrelevant.
