Good. Survival horror ftw. Leave the action Zombie shooters to Valve and Activision.
I hear you on that. Art style is crucial.
If this is indeed what Retro Studios is working on, after seeing what Monolith Software is doing on the Wii U Graphics and Draw distance-wise, I can't wait to see what this game looks like. Prime 3 looked amazing, even on the Wii's comparatively limited hardware. It'll be no PC level look of course, but those guys know how to do the most with what they're given.
This crap is getting pathetic.
20 articles like this one, and one even claiming that Sony is planning their latest reveals around Nintendo's announcements, as though somehow, the perceived failures of Nintendo has Sony swooping in and snatching up all of the 'poor abused Nintendo fans who are waiting for a savior'. (Which apparently is a machine that can only cost significantly more than the Wii U if the silly rumored specs are to be believed.)
It...
The Wii U is fine, and will be. It's not selling as fast as they want, but it is selling well.
I do think however that their resistance to the name 'Wii HD' or something similar, is hurting them. Just because that isn't the focus of the console, the reason that they are releasing an HD console now is to capitalize on the now thorough HD market.
That being said, with a name like that, regardless of the advanced capabilities of the console, the...
Like Jamie Foxx's "mini Vacations" on that movie Collateral.
Well, don't be surprised if at some point Nintendo DOES announce Garage Door Opener functionality. :p
It doesn't cost anything, and you aren't required to use it. Ever. So why does it bother you so much? You can't say they should be 'putting resources into games'. They just showed us a lot of good stuff to look forward to last week. So what's the deal? An immobile person can use some other method, OR they can use their Wii U to Zoom in on anywhere in the world to pass the time from their bed/wheelchair/toilet/etc. It costs nothing. It hurts nothing. It stands in the wa...
If by expand "games' horizons" you meant be lazy with coding since it's not crucial to optimize, then I agree.
I have no idea why people want/expect these majorly powerful consoles when
1. It will be so expensive that relatively few people will buy them.
and
2. Extra 'power' will just mean developers can be lazy. Most games won't come close to pushing the envelope. Only a few 1st party games will...
jony_dols,
While the PS3 may have sold several times more than the GC did, it means very little since Nintendo made a profit on every single GC they sold. For the last decade, Sony has taken a loss more years than they have made a profit on their gaming division. So, while I don't think the PS3 is a commercial failure, it really is mostly a success due to the entertainment it's provided, and steps forward made for console gaming. Not the money it's made the compan...
Here is the entire article.
'According to the LinkedIn profile of Sunny Mody, Supermassive Games is hard at work on a next-gen title. The unannounced project is being produced for Sony and will be released on the company’s PlayStation 3 successor.
Gaming enthusiasts may recognize Supermassive as the team behind Until Dawn. The horror title was announced during Sony’s Gamescom 2012 press conference and is expected to arrive later this year.
O.k. so just for the record. Since we don't know the name of the game, or what it's about, or anything about the look, gameplay, or concept really, how again do we know it's 'AAA'?
So now we are taking these rumors as fact??
From what I hear, it changes the quality of sound, as well as the difficulty in a game like Balloon Fight since you travel more slowly. I don't see it as complaining so much as asking for the version of the game they prefer.
I'm definitely interested in playing the rumored dungeons that they originally held out to get the Tri-force pieces instead of fishing them out.
Even if they aren't that great or the game seems to change too much, we can always just play the GC version to get the pure experience.
I'd love for the game not to feel as though it's half over by the time you get all 3 pearls.
In this day and age, when any given console gamers bbiggest fans tend to instantly proclaim every new title as 'AAA' as soon as we hear about it, and buy them, even when they aren't all that great, there's much less accountability for developers. They have a hardcore segment of diehards who will buy just about anything. And that goes for all of the Big 3. On one hand, it helps our favorite companies and developers stay alive. On the other hand, quality in some areas, by some d...
Definitely Mario Sunshine, and Twilight Princess. Maybe even Star Fox Adventures. I'd much rather see Metroid Prime though.
3rd party games? Star Wars: Rogue Squadron!
Tales of Symphonia!
Not sure if I want this, but what if there were Link and Sheik specific dungeons? You could do them in any order, at any time, and you could even have one player playing Shiek with the game pad, and another playing Link on the T.V. in different parts of the game, simultaneously? Now THAT would be a 'Next Gen' type of jump to me.
I guess you didn't read the article? The idea was that in Japan the voice over would be in English, elsewhere it would be in Japanese. That way, you get the full effect of the acting, but you have to read as well to get the full Zelda experience. But oh well. No biggie. Either Nintendo will, or they won't. As usual, a large number of people will love it, and a large number of people will be upset.
Definitely out of order instruction is important. Like Takeda said, the cache size and quality upgrade is hugely important as well, since they work hand in hand. Less error, more streamlined function, and more commands that after their execution have to wait for manifestation are set aside without 'blocking the highway'. So while the above highway analogy is a decent one, it doesn't tell the whole story. The best way I can add to that by using the same analogy is to say that if th...
