...but the PS3 is still losing money on each console sold due to the cost to make it. Something along the lines of $100 per. That means that for the time being, it will be increasingly harder to drop the price of the PS3. It's got alot going for it, but some of its innate issues hinder its growth from a mainstream standpoint. At some point, I expect the PS3 to really take off. But not until Sony is able to further lower the price, and HD becomes mainstream, which is probably a year or two off...
While it's true that the XBOX 360 likely has the least amount of potential market share, it has sold nearly 20 million consoles in two years, and looks to be selling at least 300-400k per month for as far as the eye can currently see. There's pretty much no way it can't be seen as a success unless there's some kind of crazy, sudden breakdown at some point in the near future. That doesn't seem likely to happen though due to the sheer amount of money spending people in the ever growing markets ...
I agree with you, but as the PS3's potential comes out, it will also be playing catch up from a consoles-sold standpoint. Even if it juggernaut's its way to "first place" by the end of the generation, its lead won't be a large one. I think that all things considered, the three companies are indeed on equal footing, and will remain so with minor fluctuations here and there.
Yep. Each of those is an exclusive too.
(Of course I'm not claiming that the Wii "won". Just saying...)
Both games are great when considered according to their price. For 20 bucks, you can't beat Link's Crossbow training. Umbrella Chronicles is a much more in depth and higher quality game, which the price reflects. The only comparison between the two really is that they CAN make use of the Zapper. The thing with the Zapper though, is that unless you go into it with a mentality of "Getting into it" it's completely meaningless. The feel for the games control-wise is better without it. B...
I can see the pre-story, where it was rumored that Warner would go exclusive. I can see the actual story, once it was announced. I can even see a story where a higher up comments, and Toshiba responds, even though that's pushing it. But this crap has gotten ridiculous. People should just pick one of the myriad number of stories on this subject (which is only slightly related to gaming in the first place) talk all the crap they want or defend their side all they want in that stories comment se...
I think I'm going to have to take a break from this place until this: "HD-DVD is dead! Here comes the downfall of the 360!" B.S. is over. I don't own an XBOX 360, so I'm hardly a fanboy, but this crap is drowning N4G in a pool of repetitive, annoying, and one-sided garbage... Aren't you guys ready to move past this crap and get back to oh... I don't know... GAMES?
The seal of quality needs to make a comeback asap.
I love Nintendo as much as anyone, so don't take this personally, but do you really think you have any business calling someone else a fanboy? You aren't as bad as some of the Sony or Microsoft fans around here since you usually keep your comments to defense rather than attacks. But you do defend Nintendo with a zealotry second to no one. I don't agree that 85% of Wii owners are "non-hardcore" either, but it's not some kind of threat, or the end of the world that this guy does. :P
There doesn't seem to be any real advertising from 3rd party publishers for the Wii. It really is sad considering the low cost for Wii game development. I guess it just means that overall Nintendo and the Wii continue to be a low priority for these companies. Hopefully that will change in 2008.
...Wii owners so far, it is not absurd to assume that the number of "hardcore" owners is somewhere around what the PS3 install base currently is at around 8-9 million. Mom's and Dad's, Grandma's and Grandpa's aside, third party games should be doing better.
1. Zack and Wiki was not advertised well at all. IGN did more advertising for the game than the developers did. Seeing how the game couldn't have cost much to make, shame on Capcom.
2. Nintendo has allowed too much garbage to be released for the Wii so far. Yes there are hardcore gamers, and yes there are casual gamers, but most people are somewhere between the two extremes. This middle-road group of people are looking for games to buy, but become more and more cautious and con...
That was a funny review. Crap talk aside though, it seems the game won him over.
Bioshock was equally as deserving though imo. It seems they thought Halo 3 was better though.
That's one way to improve the Wii's attach rate... lol
All it means is that what we said struck a nerve with the immature who get off on and perpetuate flame wars. I could care less about some chump who "disagrees" but doesn't have enough balls or substance to bring forth a counter argument. What people like that are doing is the equivalent of pouting in the corner after getting owned.
Government officials have no business creating discriminatory taxes to fund their programs. No matter what the program is for. Just because some juvenile's commit crimes doesn't mean that they do so because of video games. It doesn't mean that a minority group can be singled out for a tax just because most people won't be affected. It's just like smoking.
I personally can't stand cigarette smoke, and I can't understand why anyone would want to voluntarily breathe smoke into th...
There was no winner. All 3 had their ups and downs, triumphs and failures, areas that they led, and areas where they trailed. All of these things have made 2007 successful, and set up a bright future for each console.
Articles like this one serve only one purpose: to fuel the fires of fanboy flame wars. How embarrassing for us gamers in general. We're supposed to be grown up now folks... XBOX 360 had a great year, but so did the PS3 and the Wii when all things related have bee...
lol @ the idea of my being a Sony fanboy. I guess in your eyes, any opinion that doesn't lick the crack of Microsoft comes from a hater or a fanboy. What a narrow and biased view.
"New Gen"
The meat of the article anyway.
