Surpassing the DS and PS2 won't be an easy challenge as it still needs to sell over 50 million more units. Only way I see it happening is if the PS5 has a slow start, which will get the PS4 have strong legs.

PS4 should pass Wii and PS1 in the next couple months in terms of units shipped. Game Boy is next in line, followed by the DS and PS2.

@darthv72 The Switch could be over 60 million units sold by the time the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett launch in holiday 2020.

Don't forget the updated OG Switch with improved battery life coming out soon. We will see how much the Switch Lite will help sales soon enough.

Nintendo has a huge hit on their hands with the Switch. Crazy thinking the Wii was a sales, then the Wii U flopped, and now we have the Switch.

At the current rate the Switch should easily pass lifetime sales of the Xbox One before the end of the year.

The 11% marketshare is just for the month of June, while the 25% is for lifetime sales.

The release of Super Mario Maker 2 helped push Switch sales up.

While the Xbox One hasn't had a price cut in a while, Microsoft is doing "temporary" sales on the console pretty much every month at this point.

It should outsell the PS1 as well. Even passing the Game Boy is possible. PS2 and DS with sales over 150 million is likely out of reach, but I wouldn't say impossible. It depends how much Sony support the console and when the PS5 launches.

100 million is all but guaranteed. Should hit the figure by the end of 2019.

Those are shipped figures. VGChartz tracks consoles sold to consumers.

Strongest start for a console in many countries.

Nintendo forecasted during the last quarterly report that shipment figures for the Switch would be 17.74 million by the end of March. There are five weeks remaining as the current VGC estimates are for February 24. Once you add in the remaining weeks VGC estimates will likely be in the 16.4-16.6 million range. Just over one million consoles on store shelves and in transit is typical for a console.

Looks like it is having strong legs so far.

For $500 I wasn't expecting a huge impact beyond the first couple months either. The Xbox One X is likely helping sales a bit, but not much.

January was also a 5 week month, which hasn't happened in several years. That helped push sales up year on year so much.

It was a strong holiday for all 3 major consoles.
