Sales would be the same as the consoles are sold out.
The Xbox Series X|S entered production a bit later than the PS5. I don't remember the Xbox One being hard to find in its first holiday, while for the Series X|S it is nearly impossible.
That is the holiday season from Black Friday to Christmas for you. Switch sales are about on par or slightly up year-over-year for December.
Yeah more than likely true. The PS5 is sold out everywhere.
It will likely be the same for the PS5 vs the PS5 Digital Edition.
VGChartz preliminary data showed about 60-70% of the sales were for the Xbox Series X.
For sure! Video game sales have been up across the board since March.
Rumors are pointing to some remaster or remake of some of the older 3D Mario games and a Mario 3D World Deluxe edition.
By the end of the summer at the current pace.
Microsoft does have a lot of work to do in Europe and even more to do in Asia. Xbox One sold decently well in North America, but even in its best territory still fell a fair amount short of the PS4.
At least Microsoft is starting next generation in a better position than the current generation. No Kinect and no bad PR like its always online DRM, before they changed that before launch. Halo Infinite will be very important to get the Xbox Series X off on the right foot.
All three consoles have seen a boost starting in March due to people staying home from the pandemic. Though, sales are starting to slow down ans they aren't up year-on-year as much as they were a couple months.
Phil Spencer has shown interest in acquiring a studio or two from Asia and rumors of them looking to acquire a Polish studio. Outside of North America, they should focus on Europe if they want to grow their marketshare. They are more likely to break into that market than they are Asia.
Switch sales were already really good in the US, but sales have exploded the last few months thanks to Animal Crossing and everyone being stuck at home.
A $100 price cut this holiday season will help keep sales high even with the launch of the PS5. But going forward the PS5 would need to launch at like $599 to have a big enough of a gap for the PS4 to stay on the market and have legs like the PS2 did.
A price cut and the PS5 to have a start as slow as the PS3. For the PS4 to have any chance.
@Echo_ the bold part is more of the release date than the price.
I'm going to be bold and say September 17 to launch alongside Cyberpunk 2077 with a price of $499 for the Xbox Series X. If Lockhart (Xbox Series S) is real, I'll say it will launch a little later in early November for $299.
PS4 is going to end up selling 30+ million more than the PS3, while the Xbox One will sell around ~35 million less than the Xbox 360. Switch is leagues ahead of the Wii U and is nearly keeping up with the Wii, but end up selling more if it has better legs.
Switch saw a huge boost in sales for March due to Animal Crossing and people staying home.
Sony shipped 4.5 million PS5 consoles in 2020. This includes consoles in transit, which haven't been sold to consumers yet.
