PSP2 for certain, because its use will extend well beyond gaming.

The UK launch lineup for the 3DS is... 9 games, only 4 with 3D, and of those, only one is even remotely interesting to me. I won't be picking up a 3DS until some serious software is available, and until the reviews of what is available, are in.

I actually wonder if the 5 "non 3D" games will be playable on the DSi as well.

Lol. I've seen better games out of high-school class projects.

"why not at least pretend to have something interesting to offer the gaming community and compare the playability of both titles? or load times etc."

I'll do that, since this guy didn't.

The framerate is considerably better on the PS3 version, and the motion control is very smooth and precise. It's better than the Wii version in all regards.

Also, the Move glowing while you play is kinda gives you a Dead Space spooky ho...

I actually think DS:E is a better value on PS3... because its free. It's definitely a "lite" game, and probably not worth more than about $20-$30, despite the fact that it made its debut at $50 on the Wii.

It's included with DS2, in the PS3 collector's edition, along with a replica plasma cutter, and some other cool stuff.

The iPhone does not have gaming controls. Everything is touchscreen.

You don't realize how much that sucks, as a serious gamer, until you try it and compare it to a device like the PSP.

Also, if these specs are accurate, it would be considerably more powerful than the next iPhone -- twice the cores.

They may have deemed 60fps @ 720p to be more worthwhile then 1080p @ 30 fps. 1080p is a lot of screen real-estate to fill.

The GPUs on the 360 and PS3 are decent, but the GPU muscle required to fill 1080p at 60 Hz, except in the simplest of games, wasn't really available until a couple years after those consoles were released.

Framerate is better on PS3 as well.

The comparison is obvious, if you view it as simple as "PS3 vs Wii, which is more powerful".

What's interesting here is that this is one of the first times we've seen a game from the modern generation (as opposed to a PS2 game) ported up from SD to HD, and the difference is pretty astounding. To this point, you could have argued that the God of War collection, etc. would have also looked much better if po...

MAG is the most fun I've had with a shooter this gen. By a longshot, even.

I never have problems getting into even the biggest games, with the new Multiqueue system.

Nintendo has never released the official specs for the 3DS... I doubt Sony will release the specs for the PSP2. We'll all have to wait until there's one in the hands of someone willing to take it apart, most likely.

I wonder if it'll just be a DS game, with the option to make some sprites "3D" or somesuch, if you've got a 3DS.

Well.. that's good because I have too many good games unopened at home anyway.

Sorry sidar, I have to pick apart your list. No offense.

3 cameras. ...VGA cameras. The stereoscopic thing is cool though.. but expensive? no.

Motion sensors... how useful is that on a console where the controller and the screen are one and the same, though? I don't want to waggle the screen while playing, do I? Particularly not in close quarters... like a bus.

Touchscreen... cheap nowadays

customizable 2D/3D screen....

LoL. Sure, its legal. You buy them from an authorized dealer, after getting licensed, and fire them at a range, or in a safe locale.

You don't set them on your front lawn, for anyone to pick up and use (the internet), especially not when the people watching your lawn tend to be mass murderers (pirates).

George Hotz was catering to pirates, plain and simple. If he wanted to help hobbyists, he should have created a signed version of Linux for them to run...

The 3DS is doomed to follow the footsteps of the PSP, as far as its games library goes.

People never take into consideration that making a fancier game costs a LOT more money. Games companies aren't in the biz to make you smile on the way to and from work. They don't flush money away, so that fanboys can win fanboy wars, either.

The DS was hot -- and it was cheap to make games for it. There are many, many DS games which cost well under $1M to make....

You realize that the games industry is the last bastion of performance coding, right?

Most of the programmers of the world have only a vague idea of what a cache miss even means. Although they're certainly not "commonplace", you'll find FAR more performance-oriented engineers working on games than any other industry.

It's not that way because "devs are lazy", either -- it's that way because educational systems keep kids aw...

Harsh criticisms of the 3DS. Some people will hate this article for its honesty.

The 3-5 hour battery, for example -- harsh criticism, sure, but... lets face it, the PSP, which is darn near as powerful as the 3DS (hence the battery drain), has had the same problem for years, and people got over it.

The iPhone battery lasts about 1 hour while playing a high-end game.

Battery tech.. just doesn't improve along with the chip tech.

The day that DOS emulation becomes possible on the PS3 and PSP (wouldn't take much...), Steam will make a serious, SERIOUS difference in the console wars.

@ Mahr,

You are effectively arguing that arms dealers are not committing crimes, because they are not the ones firing the guns, and the pistols and machineguns they sell could be used for "hunting".

Talk about straw men.
