What troubled times? Don't listen to the BS Google is spewing. They haven't even established themselves in the gaming market yet. I don't see their PoS with no exclusives selling very well.
You mean gamers who like services and gamers who like games? So, pretty much like this gen.
Awesome! I love this series!
Great. If they release something like that I won't buy it.
When suits who are trying to eliminate used-game sales try to shove their ideas down our throats and talk them up like they're the in trend and everything else is out of style, you get words like "niche' used to describe a product by a company who doesn't share the same mindset, or worse yet, to get into the head of said company and have them start using words like that. Sales figures show just how out of touch with reality those suits are, mind you, so they can keep trying....
Huh? Since when has Sony not been about hardcore gamers? I dislike when companies treat us like second-class citizens. It took me a while to forgive Nintendo after they went through the phase where they talked about us like we weren't nearly as important as the casual audience they were chasing.
Personally, I think focusing on core gamers is how it should be as we're the ones who buy the most games, systems and accessories by far, and we're the reason the big...
Maybe it will just be a really big niche. Like, a niche of tens of millions pushing 100 million. It's all semantics really.
Pity the entire system is an expensive paperweight even if just your internet goes down. Yeah, streaming-only isn't my thing.
About to? They are jumping the gun, big time.
I had no idea this was a major gaming event. It’s certainly not on my list of annual worldwide events that I follow. Let me know if they skip TGS, Gamescon, PGW and the various PAXes.
Lol. Yeah, I’m sure Stadia will be the next big thing. /s Also, even if school-issue laptops have internet enabled to stream, wouldn’t pre-downloading Steam games be more efficient and easier for quick in-class access? Just saying.
I’m looking forward to it, but as I get older and have been through multiple gens, it’s not as exciting to me as when I was younger and my mind was easily blown by improved technology. I expect improvements but what I’m looking forward to most is having access to a new library of games, and the libraries of systems I currently own are still growing, so I keep getting that regardless of when it’s time to get a new system. So, yeah, next gen is sure to be fun. The excitement is still there f...
Stuff like this is not for me, but nude mods have been a thing since at least as far back as the original Tomb Raider. This is nothing new and quite commonplace in the digital era. I’m not sure why this in particular warrants you taking the time to comment on it.
That may be true, but those aren’t as well-known. I mean sure, roguelike is a genre label but I had to look up what it meant and found out it is in reference to a pioneer of the genre that has since fallen into obscurity. I guess Diablo-like doesn’t quite roll off the tongue as well, mind you. Metroid and Castlevania on the other hand are games most people still know to this day. It’s not about giving credit to certain games so much as letting people know what they’re checking out. I thi...
Why? I understand having pet peeves. Mine is when people or even companies call remasters remakes. But, genre names exist because they help us label games so we know what we’re getting into before we buy something, and I think Metroidvania does its job just fine. Heck, unlike with something like roguelike, the games that label is in reference to are still known to the average gamer. Most importantly though, when we see the label metroidvania, we know we’re getting a game with lots of exp...
Umm...it leaves the Switch in the hands of Switch owners? We will see if MS’s service becomes the game changer they and the media are hyping it up to be, but people like the Switch regardless of what MS is doing.
Or they could just stay Sony. It has worked for them really well so far. In fact, they're on track to do just as well next gen unless they really veer off course.
I would say pretty similarly to this gen based on what we know.
How does that make up for everything? “We will let you play our game a year later” probably isn’t making backers feel that much better.
They have had that for a very long time. It's called physical games and regular digital downloads.
