They'll all survive.
All three of them have a place in the market, and they are all needed in the market in order to keep the ball rolling. As much as I'm not a fan of Microsoft, I do believe they need to keep Sony on their toes, and the same can be said to Microsoft from Sony.
I don't believe we would have gotten all our amazing games across all the consoles if it wasn't for the pressure put on by the others.
There are actual...
You guys do realize they won't tell you when they're announcing the PS4, right? It'll be by surprise when you aren't expecting it (and some are). I've mentioned this before too, that if they were to say, "Actually, there will be some news of PS4 sometime down the road", people would hold off on buying the PS3 in order to buy the PS4.
Who wants to buy a PS3 NOW, if PS4 is coming out at the end of 2012, or early 2013? It's going to kill sales. ...
But if he went and did something like that it wouldn't have been funny.
I'm pretty sure the PSP version was the developers intended version, and they changed it to be more child friendly on the DS.
Smart choice on the developers side in my opinion.
@CGI:
I'd take that last bit with a grain of salt. As I noticed some major differences between Uncharted 3 "1-year-to-launch" trailer and the final product. It didn't look "obviously worse", but it didn't look as good as it was when first shown.
Things like that were more obvious with Uncharted 2. For example, a trailer they showed at E3 that was built FOR E3 ended up look much worse than the game even though they only had an e...
I personally found it lacking graphically in comparison to XIII (if going off a demo is allowed), and I also noticed an unsettling frame rate. But I did find it to be quite fun and with all this talk about how open the game is.
I'm actually pretty excited to see what mini-games and such they have.
I fully agree with this. This is especially what I love about Naughty Dog. Every time they announce a game, you can pretty much guarantee release within a year. Not many developers that I can think of do this sort of thing.
Not to mention if announced far too soon, the final product can change a lot from concept to release.
Developers need to stop doing this.
To all the doubters, I can guarantee you the PS4 & Nextbox will be out within 2012 - early 2013 (this would be pushing it). Sony already said they didn't want to release last and repeat this generation. And Microsoft is said to be well into work on their next console, so I doubt Sony is taking it slow at the moment.
Not to mention these consoles are definitely showing their age. The clear note is that handhelds are nearly pulling off games that we play on consoles. Wi...
Yeah, can't say I was as blown away as I was with Uncharted 2. I'm not saying at all that Uncharted 3 was a bad game, as it DID have many improvements over the first and second games.
But I think that may have been because most games released after Uncharted 2 (that I played) started to have over-the-top death defying set pieces, with Nathan Drake as their main character. And when you see too many events like that, you'll begin to be fatigued.
I ...
That'd be sick to play as her on the console version. Easily my second favorite Final Fantasy character.
Also, I think more developers need to do what Epic did for UT3 on PS3. Seems to be the only developer that can put a console game on the market with PC-made mod support. Surprising, too. Didn't expect Epic to do something like that for the PS3.
Blah blah blah.
The new DMC is not even out yet, so don't judge it.
Also, I find it to be overly RIDICULOUS that just because he lost his hair cut everyone is so choked. I don't know why anyone ever brings up how he acts, as we've only seen small bits of the game (a couple minutes), and even in the trailer he was more of a badass than he's ever been.
I've been following DMC since the first one, and enjoyed the first and third ga...
Well this would make sense. He DID say Peace Walker was his team experimenting with new gameplay mechanics (micromanaging an army, Co-op, new CQC, better action gameplay, etc). And I hope to god they stick with it.
Peace Walker was easily one of the best games in the series, so it'd be nice if they didn't go back in time in regards to developments made so far.
I could also see many, many ways the Vita and PS3 could work together on a MGS:PW-style gam...
Hmm, I'm sure it'll be tons of fun but I hope to god they are just keeping a Co-op or multiplayer announcement in the books for E3.
Otherwise it'll make it a tough buy if it's only single player. Not to mention I trust Naughty Dog to be able to make a fantastic single player game with a multiplayer, or Co-op, feature on the side. Uncharted 2-3 being proof.
There is a very rare set of attributes a game needs for me to buy Single Player games (...
Oh yeah, lets stop working on exclusives and just spend massive amounts of money on buying out third party developers for tiny bits of exclusive in-game content./sarcasm Microsoft is doing very well because they display certain third party developers as Xbox360 exclusives in the US.
I believe it worked this way with Final Fantasy XIII, Call of Duty and GTA (among others).
You know how many times people have their minds blown when I bring up that certain games...
My only hope is that it isn't a one-on-one style fighter. It has to be more frantic like SSB, or they should make unique gameplay mechanics based on the franchise the character is from.
If they did the latter, they could give it a huge world-combining story (ex. Liquid Ocelot works with Zues and commands a army of Chimera, Mercs, and monsters to collect a magical treasure of awesome power, etc).
So much potential here. I just hope it's tapped.
A 4/10? Yeah, somebody was either searching for hits, or just being a big D-bag by trying to be all "You see, Uncharted CAN get a low score".
Reviews like this shouldn't be taken seriously.
It's not an XBLA exclusive though. It even says it's the Xbox/PS3/PC trailer in the youtube video.
I hope he's not saying Gears of War 3 will be THE BEST 3D experience in 2011.
I'll be sticking to my Dualshock 3. Not that I'm against having an Xbox controller usable on PS3, as I like both controllers, but third party hardware always sucks.
So I'll stick to the official controllers for either console.
I'm sure others would enjoy this though. But I do warn you about the quality. They never meet the official gamepad standards.
I believe that's the only thing that could really move the gaming industry a bit. Apple is a well known company world-wide and would definitely attract the casuals if done right (ex, iPad/iPhone/Mac connect ability, etc).
I could actually see how they'd do it, too.
- Connect iTunes/Game Center Account
- Plays all games bought on iPad/iPhone
- Most likely use Cloud Gaming so the box itself isn't expensive (OnLive-style).
- Tons of ...
