The test system in the article is just about the same as mine, except I only run 3.2 Ghz on an i7 920 and use the GTX570 SC. I would say no hiccups even on the highest settings. Also it's funny that I chose MLAA instead of FXAA because I'm using Nvidia (ignorance on my part).

The game is very good - only quirk I have are the character (NPC, etc) movements during dialogue. They seem to be high on drugs (twitchy, fidgety) but other than that, it's fun putting guar...

I love the Steam Summer/Winter sales.

The only thing I hope is Steam would never collapse, because if it does (which I don't see in the near future happening), what happens to the all the games we purchased?

Rewarding, too, if I might add.

@Ps3thebest

Yikes, LOL no problem :-)

At least I walked through memory lane again.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I'm still about 7 hours away from getting my preordered copy at Best Buy.

If you love RPG's with lots of customization and choices, you'll like the game. The first mission at the Statue of Liberty would seem "boring" - it's just because you're just learning the game. Also don't get discouraged about how bad your aim will be at first, because you'll be able to improve it vastly with augmentation down the road. The game will start to get interesting when the plot thickens. I played that game in 2000 and I still remember it fondly. Ha...

@AKS

Also we must take into consideration access time - HDD is way faster than reading entirely from DVD, and with Solid State drives going mainstream, we won't take anything that will load longer than what we will all be used to.

Demise isn't the correct word, more just like a dip if we read along the lines of the article.

Consoles almost died in the 80's if it weren't for the faith Nintendo and Sega had for the industry...so console gamers should thank them for what they have now.

Loved Deus Ex for the same reasons as the article stated.

I hope the new Deus Ex will be faithful to its roots.

The graphics for Deus Ex was good during its day. I remember my Pentium 2 and Voodoo2 board struggled with less than 24fps in medium settings. :-D

I remember I bought my current PS3 (Fat) for $425 in 2008.

The price drop is good news. In the end the consumer is put into an advantage because not only that they save $50 for a PS3, the drop also puts pressure on MS to match the PS3 price.

Unless I'm mistaken it sounds like paying to get to max prestige faster - tantamount to fooling one's self.

Hmmm...what's the name of that EverQuest chick with the very long blonde hair?

Hopefully Far Cry 3 would use professional voice actors, and larger/wider hitboxes.

That is true - a real problem when you have just recently decided to go SLI with your old GTX270/295's. :-)

Let's see them make a game where you only have one life, and if you die you will never respawn. It would be scary to lose your 60 bucks, yes sir!

Still, that's only 60 bucks and not enough to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - it won't be as near as the fears felt by those who put their lives on the line for real.

As much as I want to play BF3, I don't buy the statement from this article.

In the true Battlefield, no one respawns.

Alpha Centauri was a good game - Civilization in Space. The only thing in my opinion that destroyed the gameplay was when after the factions discovered the tech to create off-shore cities...I hope they won't do that again.

One good about this article is that it mentions the site that shows off the Mass Effect faces made by fans... It's fun to look at their concepts of female Shepards. Some look crazy (LOL), and others are cute and pleasant to look at.

X-COM:UFO Defense (a.k.a. UFO: Enemy Unknown) was a great game in the 90's, and it became a hit mostly by word of mouth. It didn't have much advertising in my personal view, and the game could have been easily dismissed as "what garbage" at first look. But once playted for the first time and once the player grasped the game's mechanics, the game fed the player's hunger to know what's going on by discovering what the aliens are up to, and the need to capture and r...
