A VERY public response like this only lends credence to those rumors. A simple tweet denial would've sufficed. Enjoy the attention, I suppose. I didn't click it.
Haha that must be a GAF joke :p
Whoever runs the site that this post links to...fix your comment system. Moderating is fine but things are getting thumbs downed for reasons beyond my understanding and resulting in some hidden comments that don't deserve to be hidden...Yes, I am referring to my own comments but, objectively...I'm like...WTF?
Not to mention the excessive love for comments stating that livestreams online are better than TV broadcasts of the same conferences...they're the same mate...
Nintendo Direct is still a conference though...and it IS happening at E3...and the actual article does say that it's a Nintendo Direct...cut em some slack :p
On the "this is my property" argument...I tend to agree. I have a hard time coming up with something that I've paid for with these same proposed restrictions on it. This may translate to cheaper sales, though. Or maybe they won't follow through with any of these and they are trolling gamers at large. Or maybe you'll get some unstated benefits along with all the control. Or maybe it isn't as bad as it seems. There are WAY too many unknowns to come to conclusions quite...
Fixed lol thanks for the pointout. I fried my brain writing that piece, trying to juggle the wording that MS used with the reality of what it meant. THat and I reviewed Daggerdale last week so had GemSpy stuck in my head lol
All it would REALLY take is for Sony to have slightly (or considerably) looser restrictions for both gamers and publishers alike...
The way Sony tends to treat its gamers I HIGHLY DOUBT their DRM will be as restrictive as MS. These policies fall directly in line with Microsoft's business practices though. We'll see what happens at E3...maybe.
lol...well, that's one way to look at it I suppose :p
Again, I just gotta disagree. I don't recognize the decline and I have been an FF fan since Final Fantasy "II" graced my SNES. A large portion recognizes a decline that I simply do not see. THey are all great games and have gotten better in relation to the tools available with better hardware IN MY OPINION. I realize I am of a minority in this perspective but it is what it is. While the rest of you find it hard to believe that anyone could see greatness in these games, I find it...
Final Fantasy Sales according to VGchartz:
VII - 10 million
VIII - <8 million
IX - 5 million
X - 8 million
XII - 6 million
XIII - 7 million
Sounded better when you didn't use numbers, didn't it? :p
And lest we forget that 4 less than 3 million, and 6 sold less than 5 million...both considered some of the best titles ever in the series.
13 was a fantastic game in many peoples...
I'll never agree with the word "decline" being used in reference to Final Fantasy. They have evolved, and perhaps evolved away from what everyone WANTS...but they are brilliant in their own right to many of us who are still able to appreciate them, perhaps with more of an open mind than most.
Of course later in the day, some hard dates were throw out...believe me, FFXIV's schedule has been vague for...well, years now lol We've been hearing "2013 maybe...Beta next month! Wait, this spring! No, summer! Phase 3 this summer!" you get my drift. My cynicism is warranted as a devotee who has waited years for this game's release on PS3.
Right. Cloud processing IS streaming info, EXACTLY what Gaikai does. It's a bit early to predict, but I foresee Sony's developers utilizing this IF they open the service up for that type of streaming outside of just gameplay. I really can't see them NOT allowing it as an option, aside from not having the server structure to pull it off for larger games.
Long and short - PS4 will be CAPABLE of such streaming operations. The question is just whether or not the techn...
So now we have a graphic for its vague schedule.
He's probly a PS3 owner. I'm waiting for that version as well. Signed up for the beta but lost my FF13-1 code so I am on a long list of potentials. Here's hoping.
Agreed. With the HUGE scope of what XB1 is trying to do they will NEED that many servers to pull it off. I don't know how many servers PSN boasts but I know they are constantly growing and do what they are supposed to do quite well these days. Apples and oranges indeed.
Wow...business news outlets are tying the stock surge to some investor who wants Sony to diversify its entertainment stocks...the surge began at 2pm EST to the closing bell. Coincidence? Yall business junkies missed something important here :p
Agreed and that is why I have a strong sense that coop will be present, if not the main driving narrative of its multiplayer. I am eager to see it, especially since they've left is so cloaked in mystery and recent hype.
The demo shows a generic game, yes, but the article is about its potential. I am skeptical, myself, over whether or not this game distinguishes itself from the rest of the genre but am eager to find out.
That's still about $1.3 billion a year in revenue.
