Excellent post! I agree on all accounts. MS have done many things right this generation and it has resulted in the 360 gaining market share. I, too, believe that they will support the 360 for a long time this time around. In fact, Microsoft have been quoted as saying just that. It's also true that the PS3 is going to have to start outselling the 360 by very significant margins if it is ever going to have a chance of catching up to the 360.
I have no doubt that Microsoft wil...
The 360 is clearly doing very well and I say 'good job'. I am loving this generation--we have 3 consoles that are all doing very well and are competing fiercely for our gaming dollars. That is a good thing.
The PS3 has some good games, but the 360 does have more. My 360 has never given me any problems. I think some of you overplay that one.
He's poking fun at you guys, don't you see? He might generally believe what he is saying, but he is obviously having fun.
Well, I think Gears 2 is a better game. I don't care what you think, and you shouldn't care what I think.
It is the best looking console game that I have seen. Even many of the game sites stated that they thought it was the best looking game. If you can't see it you are blind. MGS4 is soft looking because it runs at less than 720P and it has ugly jaggies on the shadows and its textures are nothing special. Gears 2 looks decidedly better in my opinion.
But I wonder...why are you bringing this up here?
OMG, IGN is so biased!...well, that is what I would be saying if I was a Ps3 fanboy. Nah, that particular IGN reviewer just has strange taste that doesn't really coincide with what the majority thinks about these two games. The majority think that Gears 2 is a better game. That is why it is selling at many times the rate of Resistance 2 and why it is sitting at a 9.3 on metacritic and Resistance 2 is sitting at an 8.7.
I know, it's silly. Sony have copied as much or more than anybody this generation. As a gamer who played on both the PS2 and Xbox last generation I can say without hesitation that the PS3 has become a lot more like the Xbox than the other way around. In fact, the PS3 feels like it is copying the Xbox 360 is so many ways that it hardly has its own identity any more. Universal gamer IDs, trophies, the online game and movie store, voice chat, game invites, and even the built-in hard drive it...
Actually, the PS2 sold well right from the word go.
The Playstation 2 launched in North America on October 26, 2000, in Japan on March 4, 2000, and in Europe on November 24, 2000. North America was the biggest market for the PS2, followed by Europe and then Japan/Asia. By September 19, 2002 Sony had reported that it had shipped 40 million units of the PS2:

I can understand to a point why you are worried about the RROD, but at the same time I hope you realize that the problem was mostly with earlier consoles and has been greatly exaggerated by people who want to see the 360 fail. I know about 7 people (friends and family members) that have purchased a 360 in the past year and not a single one of them has had a problem. When I talk to my friends online on Xbox LIVE I just don't hear about it nearly as much as comments on ...
The amount of space on a disc has very little impact on a game's quality. This has been explained many times. Disc read-speed and throughput has an even bigger impact on the quality of games. This is part of the reason that many PS3 games require mandatory partial installations, to offset the slower speed of the Bluray drive in the PS3.
Anyway, it's the PS3 versions of multiplatform games that tend to be somewhat inferior to the 360 versions, not the other way around. Even wh...
@cmrbe
You hardcore PS3 supporters are really fond of saying things like "just wait until the PS3 is down to $199" or "just wait until 'X' game comes out", but what you guys don't seem to understand is that the 360 is not just going to be sitting still waiting for the PS3 to do all these great things. It's going to be doing its own great things: it's going to have its own great games and added features and price cuts.
How long until the PS3's ...
Well, when a console has the largest game library, the best online service, the best multiplatform games, some of the biggest exclusives out there (Gears 2 and Fable 2), and is also the least expensive console available, of course it is going to sell well.
I have a 360 and a PS3 and I don't want either of them to die, but I am so sick of these PS3 fanatics that want nothing more than the PS3 to have a monopoly on the gaming market and to kill off the 360. How ignorant and shortsighted. I want these two companies to be locked in close competition, since we gamers benefit most that way.
In any case, the 360 is doing very well and it is the PS3 that has some catching up to do.
Do you have any proof that the 360 has never beaten the "ps3 for a single week in the PAL region"? If not, just STFU. You have no right to spread lies and misinformation like that. Microsoft is answerable to the whole world (gamers, investors, shareholders, journalists, etc.), who are you answerable to? That's right, nobody. You can just run your mouth and it means nothing. MS can't just lie about these things and it show an extreme amount of naivete that you think that they c...
No matter what any of us think of the game as individuals there are obviously going to be people who want to play this. In fact, you can be sure that there are people out there who are major fans of this franchise and are eagerly awaiting the next game. Now those people cannot play it on the PS3, but can play it on the 360. That is the value of a larger library of games: more opportunities for a larger number of gamers with a diverse taste in games to find games that they enjoy and want to...
What do you mean? All devs are struggling on the PS3, some just have the budgets and manpower to force their PS3 versions to completion. Even the Dead Space developers admitted that they struggled with the PS3. In the end they created a game that performs nearly identically on both consoles (except the 360 version having a more solid framerate), but not all developers have the time or budget that EA Redwood Shores did.
blackstarz, your premises are flawed. The Ps3 isn't some superior technology from the future as Sony have tried to hype the console to be. No, the Ps3 architecture is crippled by the fragmented memory and how much memory the OS eats up. It is limited by its less-powerful GPU. It is limited by the fact that getting most game code running efficiently on the SPEs is always going to introduce compromises--the Cell is very capable at streaming floating point processes but unfortunately that is...
Don't kid yourself, developers are struggling with the PS3 and there have been several titles that were canceled or never even started on the PS3 simply because the developers didn't feel that it was worth it. Red Alert 3, Velvet Assassin, and this game are all examples of that.
We have heard this from developers over and over. I can't believe that people want to deny it now. People can try to downplay it all they want but it still doesn't change the fact that developers are n...
You guys don't seem to get it. For those extra features to weigh into the equation a person has to actually want those features. You guys start with the faulty premise that it is somehow a given that everybody wants all those features and then proceed to explain what a good value the PS3 is. But if a person doesn't want those features they don't care what a good value it is. Many people simply don't care about things such as Bluray or Wi-fi. Other people may be interested in those featur...
