It's a no-brainer that the PS3 is complicated. It also has less software support from Sony. The 360 uses conventional CPUs and has shared memory between GPU and CPUs. The PS3 uses the Cell and a split memory.
It hurts Sony more. Why? Because there are now zero reasons to buy a PS3 this holiday. There are zero killer apps for the PS3 and about 3 killer apps for 360. (Halo 3, Mass Effect, and the 3 JRPGs if you count them as 1 since JRPGs do sell systems.)
If anyone has downloaded the Xbox Live video, they know Too Human will be a great game. I hope the lawsiut between Epic and SK gets resolved so they can release the game early next year.
The 360 uses conventional CPUs and a very friendly shared memory between GPU and CPUs. The PS3 has split memory and an unconventional CPU. This isn't rocket science. The DVD9 vs BluRay is a non issue which would never be a reason to delay a game for 6 months.
The PS3 won't have any system sellers this holiday. There will be absolutely zero reasons to buy a PS3. It's safe to say that the 360 will trounce the PS3. Perhaps the beating will be bad enough to outsell the Wii through the holiday, too.
If MS planned the Halo 3 launch around GTAIV, Halo 3 could get a small delay now. Maybe a month. It would be hard to delay it, but it could happen.
Ads are just another source of revenue.
When was Spore first announced? 2 years ago? Now we need to wait another 2 years?
The Wii is a PS2, DS, and now DC port machine. Why would anyone by a Wii? I don't get it.
German lawmakers sought to create a law that would make killing in videogames illegal. There is something wrong with some of the German leadership. Unfortunaley, the liberals in the U.S. share the same feeling. Sex (outside of marriage) and drugs is good, but holding a toy gun is bad.
Console sales were about equal to Xbox, but nobody bought 3rd party games for the GC. With all of the 3rd party garbage for the Wii, it looks like history will repeat itself. The casuals/non-gamers Nintendo is trying to attract, won't pay more than $30 for a game. Even then, they won't buy many games. The only hope is that kids beg their parents for Wii games.
The only reason for the goofy temporary price drop is that PS3s are sitting on shelves. Sony should have waited 1 year and made a better machine. Sony is doomed to be in 3rd place this gen.
It was an ok FPS. It didn't deserve the hype. I guess PC gamers were starved for a decent game at the time. Everyone was waiting for HL2, then.
I heard that all 360s on the shelves will be 65nm in September. The Halo model is 65nm.
There's something wrong with Edge. Reviews should not soley be based on "opinion". If they don't like JRPGs, then they should review JRPGs. I don't want a review by someone that hates JRPGs because I like JRPGs. I want a review by someone that understands the genre.
I think this will put Xbox Live to over 10 million by late October. Now, there are 7 million subscribers.
Quote from article: "One concern is that Microsoft seems to be in danger of losing its position as the online game leader. Microsoft has pushed the Xbox Live online game service as the key distinguishing factor for its systems."
This guy hasn't got a clue about Xbox Live. Here's the difference: VF5, and Virtua Tennis are online for 360, but not PS3. Where's the threat?
The PS3 won't be around in 2009.
EGM gave Kameo a 63.3% average. Lair is at 55%. I felt that there was bias in the Kameo review, particularly since other websites gave Kameo 8s (Gamespot gave it 8.7). Hwoever, I find it hard to believe that there was bias for Lair. If anything, it was overhyped for little good reason. The genre (flight games) is not known to generate huge sales.
I didn't know SOCOM was coming out this year. But you should play KOTOR. It is the best RPG ever made. The other PS3 titles you listed are not system sellers. I'm not sure if SOCOM is one, either. That just happened to be successful because it was an online game on PS2, a rarity.
