Nope. The arms would likely clip into the players vision which, trust me, would be far more distracting. The only way to reasonably prevent that without restricting player motion would be to have sensors on the players arms. Is there a benefit to putting sensors to track arm movement? I cant see the experience being drastically improved by that.
Definitely a solid attempt based on the marketing. I'll likely buy a headset and the game assuming the gameplay looks as good as it did in the original trailer.
Name a PSVR game that's gotten this much attention just from being announced. There isn't one.
As much as Sony has tried to push it into mainstream, you can see that even in their eyes it's an afterthought. This is quite possibly the first dedicated AAA game that requires VR to be played.
@Sciurus_vulgaris
If someones been looking forward to the next half life game for as long as 12 years I doubt they're going to rage because of a spin-off. Especially so when it was looking like Valve had abandoned all of their franchises outside of Dota 2.
"I don’t think too many gamers (And Half-Life fans) are interested in forking over 100s of dollars for a VR set (and maybe even additional 1000s for a powerful PC) to play a VR game"
Someone who plays video games and chooses to identify as one.
Can't have these clowns thinking they're gamers...
"Can say pretty much the same thing about Nintendo games running on Nintendo hardware."
Dunno what Nintendo has to do with it, but I don't think you know what I mean by supplemental. The Switch cannot be described as supplemental when it's mandatory to run Nintendo games that are exclusive to it.
@JackBNimble
Nothing is old compared to the boomer mindset.
Elaborate on what "other politics" representation would look like, and why they aren't found in entertainment.
"No standard version without VR...no buy"
No. The problem with VR so far is that the most popular games that make use of it all do so in a supplemental way, and when games do make exclusive use of it they tend to not do so well, or are very limited in scope. Having a proper fully-fledged game with level design from the ground up made to fit the control scheme of VR is exactly what the platform needs.
If we're 100% honest there is no major sy...
Ok, boomer.
One thing that may turn out to be quite nice about streaming is potentially having the ability to play next-gen games through a last-gen system. If implemented, I think that'd be a very cool feature that benefits consumers.
At best, the influence that viewers can have is as a tie-breaker.
"If you’re unaware of the voting process at The Game Awards, the nominees and eventual winners are selected by a panel comprised of 80 media outlets from around the globe."
I love how this in no way actually explains the process. It just makes me have more questions.
Honestly, this actually looks like it could the be the game that defines VR and become the first must-have game for the tech. VR has some decent experiences, but ultimately it doesn't have that must have game yet that sells the platform. Personally, I'm hoping this is that game.
For anyone interested in why having the arms rendered in VR games would be a problem, take a look at what happens when modders create a first-person mode for third-person games. if a character swings a sword across the screen the arms are going to obstruct the camera and often clip into the players vision. It doesn't look good. Showing only the hands is the best way currently.

It's insultingly easy. It's amazing how a game with a strong themes relating to death can be so ineffective in making you think about it through gameplay. Been playing on the hardest difficulty, and not once have I died in this game, or been in any way challenged. It's even worse once you get the assaul...
@PhillSpinter
The VGAs (and their previous incarnations) have actually given special treatment to games with high profile actors. Megan Fox getting nominated for best VA? Also, Keighly has in the past basically admitted he is willing to go with the flow of things rather than challenge public opinion, and than act on what he sees; the great example being No Mans Sky. NMS was made big because of Geoff, and when he saw how bad it was he didn't feel any responsibility to st...
@shammgod
The general point hes trying to make is certainly not a lie. In the games earliest hours you are definitely spending more time watching cutscenes than actually playing.
One problem I actually have with this game is just how useless the majority of its dialogue is. Far too often this game will spend paragraphs to ultimately tell you "good job, go to the next objective", or treating you like a fool and spending 1-2 minutes droning on abo...

Your comment is funny because PS and Xbox demand actual rent money to play online. You'll be the one paying rent for this game my dude <3
