In 2008 (I think) Carmack said Doom 4 will be running at 30fps on consoles, and will look about three times as good as Rage.
id has also said that the wait for Doom 4 won't be as long as we think, because the engine is pretty much built already.

Tommy may possibly be on the alien world. After the credits in the original, Elhuit approaches him and says "others" (not those on Earth) saw the great things he did on the Sphere, and want to meet him. He steps through a portal and BAM, "Prey will contine . . ."

Yeah, SLI and CrossfireX (which is what dual-gpu cards are seen as by the system) can still be pretty iffy with certain titles, especially with things like micro-stuttering. The extreme costs are also a turnoff for people.
But when they work corrently, it's beautiful.
I'd say that the PC version has better lighting.
Alongside resolution, AA and performance improvements (up to each different rig).
But yeah, on all platforms it's not that great in the first place.
Nothing really special about the visuals. I can't comment on the actually game, though.

From what I've seen and experienced, DX11 on the same detail settings in games actually improves performance.
