I, like most people, love hearing stories like this. A friend of mine owned a copy of EVE and gave me a free trial code thing so I was able to check it out...turns out the game is absurdly dull 99.9% of the time.
Totally. There are few gaming protags more boring than the big dull armored space marine-type dude.

Yeah, come next gen I really think I'd be down for this, especially if we'd have to keep paying for stuff like Xbox Live. I'm buying the thing anyway, I'm not gonna ditch it after a few years like a phone, why not buy it for cheaper?

The only one I can really come up with that I hope they include is Kevin Butler, because IT WOULD BE AMAZING.
I'm one of those jerks of who often goes it alone in team-based multiplayer games, but that's usually because I don't trust anyone as much as I trust myself...I'd rather know i died because I didn't see an enemy in time than know I died because some idiot on my team decided to stand in front of me or something.

Oh yeah, I love that. Oddly enough, that might be my favorite thing about the beta.
I really like the beta of this, but I think too many people are playing it like a deathmatch game, and that's not where it's the strongest.
I think co-op is going to be the way to go in this.
If Activision did something like this for COD they could probably become rich enough to...you know, conquer the world.

I think the other big thing that game companies are up against is stores like GameStop. It's easy to appease gamers. Just wait 6 months and they'll forget about you anyway.
But retailers can actually do more damage.
Modern games never do anything fun like this...if there's something secret it has to be very purposefully placed. Nobody is ever going to see some weird message written on the wall in Halo unless it was specifically put there for you to see.
The screenshots that have come out are not doing this game any favors. Very worried about it.
