Your analogy doesn't make sense. Publishers don't ever sell extra chapters of a book later on. I'd say it's like buying a GI Joe at Toys R Us and then seeing a package of extra guns or whatever on the same shelf. More things for you to buy that aren't necessarily a crucial part of the package. Yeah, Hasbro could've just included those guns with your Snake Eyes figure, but there's only so much space and they needed room for...his dog, ...

The spawn stuff in MW3 drives me absolutely crazy. The game has been out for long enough now that they should be able to fix it, but why bother? On the back of the box for BLOPS 2 they can just say "NOW WITH ACTUAL FUNCTIONING SPAWN LOCATIONS" and everyone will be happy. Accepting that a multiplayer game will launch with issues ...

People just like to complain. If you don't like day-one DLC, don't buy it. If you *really* don't like it, don't buy the game.
But we all know how these things really work. Everyone on the internet will complain about it as loudly as they can...then buy the game. And maybe the DLC.
But under that logic is anything *not* a cash grab? Selling the video game itself is a cash grab, because the developer is doing it to make money.
Yeah, Disney was an odd example to pick. They might not constantly do Mickey Mouse movies, but they still consistently put out a new "princess" movie every few years.

Skyward Sword aside (if you do think the controls are a big enough difference from every other Zelda game, I'll give it to ya), isn't the majority of what Nintendo does remaking the same shoe in a different color? Maybe with some new laces?

Yeah, I think we're on the same page. If the Vita had loads of cheap-ish games that bridge the gap a bit between quickie iOS stuff and console games, I'd be all over that.
