I picked this up and was blown away by how much care went into making this game. The game play itself is pretty basic but the art direction, the voice acting, the music, etc. are all top notch. The really amazing part is when you go into "extras" and see all of the work this team put into telling the story of real history behind the game. Are there certain heroes that cost more, etc? It seems heroes like Like and Vader are reported to be more difficult to acquire.
I won't be able to play until tomorrow (PS4). Hopefully EA will fully clarify everything before then.
I'm just starting to really read about all of this. Playing devil's advocate for a minute but is it at all possible that the current 60k cost per hero is something that has been put in place for the early access people on PC and Xbox to make it impossible for them to get a hero or two before the game is released to everyone? Maybe the cost will drop to 10k after release.
Either way I didn't know you had to gain or buy credits to unlock heroes. That is BS.
As PS4 owner I am not losing sleep over it. I'm happy MS had a successful launch. The worst thing that can ever happen to Sony is for them to become complacent. It's great that Switch and X are doing well, not only for their fans and supporters, but for Sony and the industry in general. It's much more difficult to be on top and stay on top. You need a constant reminder that you may lose that top spot at any moment and have to completely change your strategy.

What is Sony going to pull out of it's hat this year to top the last two years? They set the bar so high last year with the opening of the show I don't know what to expect this year. I'll happily take another Bear McCreary opening though. Only 5 hours and 47 minutes to go...
Nope. I'm 49 and have 6 kids. Been playing videogames since 1977. Pretty much seen it all regarding videogames. Sorry but MS just stepped in a big pile of it. I certainly don't have to defend Sony. They're doing a pretty good job of handling their business.

Sony is having a big party right now. Worst thing for the gamers is they're probably rethinking any price drops on PS4 right now.

Still think it is going to be this fall as Sony's counter to Scorpio. Still betting on a GoW PS4 Pro bundle @ $399 for the holiday. With RDR slipping to 2018 this seems more likely to me. Game has been in development for 4 years and was fully played through by the developers months ago. We'll hopefully find out in just a few more days.
And, how in hell is Sony going to top last years' E3 opening? It really was the best ever.
I think the big concern is going to be the price. Sony left out UHD Blu-ray to save money. I think MS will take a bath on the console and stick with a $499 initial price. Sony will do PS4 Pro and Slim bundles with games like God of War and Spiderman. I could see something like a 2TB PS4 Pro God of War bundle with a free year of PS+ for $399 and MS would have a tough time competing with something like that.

From a market share perspective I do not see this making a huge impact. I believe MS will certainly gain some market share back after launch but, overall, it is not going to change the balance of power greatly. No matter how powerful a console MS makes it will never wrestle away developers like Atlus or From or the myriad of other talented Japanese studios that will concentrate on Sony and Nintendo consoles....
