I see that you are not a fan of subscription services. While I don't subscribe to music, I enjoy video streaming services and gaming subscriptions, simply for the ease of discovery. I have zero desire to own discs, so for me, they are great.
If their handheld comes in at steamdeck prices, I don't think it will do well at all. MS needs to keep the handheld under 400 dollars if it wants it to succeed.
I don't know if it is necessarily getting smaller as xbox one owners still haven't upgraded yet. It'll be interesting to see just how long they can go before upgrading. Maybe they never do, or they switch to pc or ps, but if ms have more active monthly users now than ever before, it stands to reason that there is still a healthy group of users still happily playing last gen. Cross gen has made everything kind of murky.
I don't want ms to give up on consoles because then xbox gamers will lose out on their digital libraries. I don't want to have to game on PC either.

I think it can just be an extension of the series console line for those that like to game on the go. If steam and epic game store are allowed, then it opens the handheld to be much more. I think it's more competing with steam deck than with the Nintendo switch.
I think the handheld will be 399 and the next gen console will be 599. Just not sure if the console will have a disc drive or not. I also think the handheld is coming out next year and is more of a portable series s with steam app integration while the next gen console drops in 2026.
Because I'm in the xbox ecosystem as are all of my digital games. Even if all of their games go to other platforms eventually, it doesn't change anything for me. All of my games are still on xbox.
Even if it only sells 5 million, that can still be considered a success, especially if it isn't sold at a loss.

The xbox series x is 499, and the 1 TB expansion cards are $125 if you buy them separately. If the expansion cards were only $50, then I think you would have a good point.
