Agreed. The only difference now is that back in the day big AAA games took 3 years. Now they take at least 5-6. The costs of game development has ballooned to the point where 1 mistake is unfortunately enough, because 2 back to back mistakes will close most studios down.
I feel like smaller games need to make a comeback for a while to reel our expectations in a little bit. Otherwise, it's only going to get more expensive.
It would certainly be strange if this news came from Bethesda, but Activision is its on monster.

If they didn't provide review copies until launch day, I would agree with you, but reviewers got their review codes this week. Since it's only an 8 hour game, that's plenty of time to have a review ready. I'm taking the studio heads word though, based on yesterday's interview.

Sounds like the gamepass option isn't for you. But luckily, it's just that, an option. I use gamepass for discovery mostly. I've followed that up with purchases for the games that I really enjoy. Gamepass has basically replaced my gamefly subscription. Have no plans to unsubscribe unless it starts to hit the $30 dollar/month

They definitely will. Once ai qa becomes a thing, Ms will dissolve 90% of the qa testing team. Those qa testers probably have about 18 months before they need to worry, but it's coming.
