I'd like to see him take that rail-less 90 degree turn at "Mach 14" without slowing down in Wipeout HD. Sure you can do that in F-zero GX but that's what makes it completely unrealistic. Wipeout HD has much more believable physics and the F-zero GX maps levels are more about the frustration of taking dead ends than it is about perfecting the race. In Wipeout HD if you tried to pull that crap, you'd completely fly off the map. And btw there is NO proper mastery of letting you take...

I'm sorry if you feel that my post was completely biased. I don't think I once mentioned anything about any consoles or games sucking. I was trying to be as impartial as I could given what I saw and what I had to compare with.

That being said I'm going to play the game anyway as I've already said twice before. So don't get all defensive if I play "your" game.

You're right. It is nitpicking, and isn't going to stop me from trying out the game and having fun. However, please do consider how much more frenetic the pacing would be if we started seeing bullet holes drilling through the table or tiles splintering next to the feet.

Anyway, the Unreal engine was shown to be able to perform these feats. The question I pose is why wasn't it implemented?

Well to bolster therealest's vague argument... here is what I saw.

The shot out windows on the first vid was scripted to hit all the windows in the corridor.

The death animations and shot hit impacts on the locusts are not mocap but hand animated (You can tell the difference by looking at Kz2 vids or even uncharted).
The shot impacts barely kick back the locust when in the body, but totally flip them when headshot or dead.

Where's the 360 webbrowser? It seems Sony is holding their own. The only advantage I c at this point is cross game invites on the 360.

Everything else is already available and free on the ps3.

What's with the title of this ripten article... Professionalism is dead.

That being said, who's up for buying a 360 slim with the jasper board?

I know I wouldn't lol. Rather get it in a more spacious original case... just in case...

The first ps2 slims suffered overheating from the miniaturization. If we take the 360 motherboard, shrink it and put into a portable case and integrate the giant powerbrick... sorry but that sounds like a sh1tstorm waiting t...

If you have a problem with people who read articles who happen to be sony users, you need to give it a rest.

Besides, IIRC many 360 owners were clambering about how RROD was a thing of the past and flat out reporting these articles as old or slander.

Thing is, it's still a real concern and a major obstacle for people who want to pick up a 360 console.

Horde mode sounds fun, kind of reminds of starcraft, except I'm actually one of the space marines... Speaking of which... the bulkiness of the characters from GeOW is definitely reminiscent of Starcraft. Interesting.

Anyway, that's about what I look forward to in the game. Glad my friend will be the one buying it for us to splitscreen.

Good point, but you also just brought up a huge contention topic. I wonder if Epic would be able to top that MGS4 rail sequence. That was beyond amazing what Kojima did in that sequence.

maybe, just maybe it's an engine/tech limitation have you thought of that? I can tell you that personal encounters were larger in uncharted in certain areas... really brought up the pacing on those parts, b/c you were constantly in danger of getting outflanked.

Look at it this way, there are so many more melee AI's this geow, there probably will be a "rush" gameplay of sorts.

Sparse environment with a bare handful of enemies makes me smile. After seeing r2, this doesn't seem like a locust invasion, more like locusts visiting a coutry club on the weekday.

That stream of locusts we saw in the first released geow2 movie? They follow pre-determined paths and don't have AI. This game still has the same limitations as gow1.

Looks the same as the first game in terms of gameplay. Still looks like 1 vs 4-6 enemies. Enemy characters are so sparse the world feels empty.

The bug freeze is from accounts with more than 50 friends in the list. If you download and play the game on a <50 account, it won't freeze.

There is no fundamental paradigm shift between the ps3 and 360 controllers. It's crazy how Cliffb makes such a big b1tchfest comparing controllers that are essentially almost the same minus the case sizes.

Yes you can argue they are different... but face it, its not different in the n64, wii, or snes sense. These two controllers designs are pretty much off the original ps1 design with some gyro motors and a bigger case/heft. It all comes down to how big your hands are.

I guess the team at Epic was impressed enough by Uncharted's cover system controls to include it on GeOW2. Good to see that they recognize and are willing to adapt to a strong competition.

Also interesting to note how the gun impact still doesn't carry any weight according to the preview. Everyone wants to see Killzone2 hit reactions now that they've been spoiled by it. I certainly would've like to see the locusts body thrashing from unloading a full clip. Instead, according ...
