I've never mentioned LBP to my gf and yesterday she told me she had read on the news about this mario like building game called big little planet or "whatever" where you could make really cool levels and design them or decorate. She wanted to play it and told me she'd buy it for me lol, so I could learn how to be a game designer. lolz
just wanted to spread the news.
Lukewind, I'd agree with you except that everything you've said is completely backwards. There are plenty of Unreal3 engine games that run perfectly fine on the ps3. Geow2 isn't exactly running new technology. It doesn't even have environmental damage so its only a slightly better version of Unreal Tournament 2008.
Actually I disagree. There's a fair amount of physics and particle effects going on that can't be duplicated in the same amount on the 360. Graphics yes, LBP is no biggy. items yes, with a multiple disc install can be achieved. But things happening onscreen at the same time? I think not. That's a definite documented advantage that the cell has over older gen chips and one of them is physics and # of particles effects generated. That's why you see so many game publications ooing and aahin...

It's the full level with the dragon.
Looks like there's going to be more infrastructure/environmental damage available for the player to take advantage than gt4. Look at all the rubble on the ground. Very cool to be able to implement that in an open world.
This is for the female gamers out there and I think it is a great idea. It may not make sense to us guys, but I think since the growing majority of gamers are female, and Sony is capturing this audience with a socializing environment like HOME. Dressing up is just an extension of catering to the female crowd. Kudos for their thinking.
So what happens if you're wrong? Will you be shaving your legs for us?
I mean what's the difference. It means nothing about whether MS is on top. If Sony doesn't present, it only means that they don't perceive MS's announcements as a threat. I mean Sony does have the 16+ 1st party developer advantage... I've come to realize that number is almost if not MORE than all the 1st tier 3rd party developers COMBINED.
Isn't it obvious they're going after the casual market now? All the pre-teen squirts and boys/girls that outgrew the wii.
The way the player was handling the gun, I would say he was new to FPS games. Looks like he got frantic toward the end, but had a good time with the title.
Attach rates are great and all... but prior to this gen who but MS talked about Attach rates? Certainly not Nintendo or Sony or EA, Activision, Lucas Arts, Valve, etc.
Attach rates are great for MS, that's about it.
And if you want me to take you back to the car comparison I was making earlier. SUVS had GREAT attach rates until Gas prices hit nearly $4 and the economy went kaput.
Now that's how I view attach rates.
how is it leaps and bounds better if you're asked to make avatars but never have to look at it or use it again?
Is it going to be like MS BOB or the paper clip where your avatar dances around when you switch between "blade sections?" Or is it going to be like LBP where when you talk the mouth opens and closes next to the other xii/player you are chatting with?
I'm just asking a question.
Ok here's my flaming question. If all you have to do is make it and never have to look at it again... What's the point of adding the avatar feature in the first place? What are you supposed to do with it then? Makes me think that Miis have more functionality than xiis?
Kotaku's a bunch of backstabbers and the fact that MS Japan doesn't really want anything to do with them in this pic... says it all.
Besides, he looks like he hasn't bathed for two weeks or trimmed... If I were MS, I wouldn't know I was looking at a Kotaku writer ... just a unwashed/unkempted fanboi.
Interesting Square isn't in the list... but this shows strong signs of support from third party developers. In fact, it's a pretty daring undertaking, and it shows a lot of confidence on the part of the publishers, that we the consumers/fanboys don't see.
They must all be sold on Sony's long term concept of HOME in order to come together and invest their time and programming teams to develop this virtual world. I am amazed that given the "supposed" dark news of sales ...
There is a difference though... Kz1 sold like 2 mil copies. Which is sequel worthy for any developer back then.
You seem to have the typical mentality of the Average American. If it's bigger ... then it must be better!~ Seriously, the leap between current gen tech and next gen is so big that a couple of bad ports seems to be skewing your perspective. I'd like to compare your perspective with how the average SUV owning american used to view Hybrids. Yeah those small dinky hybrids sure underperform the massive horse power laden SUV... that was until you hit the 100 mile mark/Gas price hike. All of a...
I don't think its necessarily a media out of touch. I think that it's a pro-American call to buy American Products. Much like the calls from American Media for consumers to buy 24mpg American vehicles. Sure it's out of touch (and the products are really playing catchup), but with the economy the way it is, we should be trying to bolster our country's products... even if it is inferior compared to whats out there. At least that's how I see the message is.
The problem with this ...
Seriously... how do you f*** up a cam recording off a screen.
hahahha That's funny how they were dropping hints all over the place about this game's play length. Guess it isn't going to last that much longer than gears 1. Still a great game.
Actually I'm not smoking crack and I'm trying to talk to you from a logical standpoint. Notice how I didn't say this game couldn't be ported to the 360. I certainly think it is possible since they're going to tone it down for a psp version. The main differences as I've already said is you won't have 1/2 the textures available to ps3 users right off the bat. Also you will be working with half the # of effects onscreen. The particles and effects aren't linearly generated. Why do you think al...
