We can't assume that they're necessarily trying to go for hits. For one they're playing a localized version of a title that is very dialogue heavy. Sometimes translations don't come out carrying the same intention. What may be gripping in English, might not carry over well in French... or their translation team sucked.
That's kind of a moot point. Your TV could upscale any content to 1080p without the 360 or ps3.... 720p and 1080p upscaled are the same except for that little bar that appears when you press display info.
If you are looking at character models... perhaps (if we could all somehow come to the obvious conclusion that its about 10x easier to model a helmeted face vs. a face) but if you are looking at the whole picture... no (at this point). There isn't much in the background to warrant your assessment.
@hoops I agree with you. Probably will not see 1080p with 4x AA this gen unless studios dial back the amount of stuff going onscreen.
@Fragtag you need to S*FU. If you want a fair discussion throw Forza 2 and 2.5 in the loop since you seem so keen on bashing the other console. Wait does forza even do 1280 x1080p? No.
So quick to point out the so-so textures on KZ2... but in comparison to MW2 and Halo3? I guess those two titles must have bland textures. /sarcasm
same here. Definitely psyched.
I think you missed some of the salient points of this discussion. While I'm sure you understood catguy's point of the FAIL with regards to comparing PR shots to poor in-game.
The fact of the matter is UC2 is still a far better looking game than Reach (as it is in alpha right now) or ME2. In fact, given that catguy used multiplayer shots of UC2, to compare to single player campaign shots in ME2 from the PC version, this prove just how difficult it is to mask the differences.
wow agreeing with you for once. Working out before gaming helps me to focus better and improve reaction.
A nice salad, dried fruit, popcorn or a small bag of trail mix and bottled water. Don't want to be thrown in with the negative stereotypes that most people associate with gamers. You know what I'm talking about obese, greasy, BO smelling, ruddy pale skin...etc. Not that I'm suggesting anyone here is. But it's just good to take care of oneself under any circumstance.
PS Besides, as some of lady gamers below are pointing out, they want their gamer boys to look good too. heh.
That advert had just about every other sentence mentioning, "sexy". Pyon Pyon... refers to the floats popping up the water.... but boob bounce isn't too far of an innuendo...
Been a fan of Bioware since Baldur's gate. BGII, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment (by far favorite), Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire (hated this game with a passion, because of its lame generic asian themes), KOTR, Dragon Age, (missed ME1... but won't make that mistake) and now ME2... mmm for my pc!~
Partially agree. Texture is definitely sharper, lighting is also better. However, I don't see the polygon pushing you're talking about. Character polygon count look pretty much the same to me. Same with the environment looking at the command center on the ship. Everything is a little wider... same design. What needs to be seen is the animations, physics and particle effects, as well as number of onscreen AI. That to me completes the overall "package".
If it surpassed UC2 in graphics, the critics would've said so already... They haven't.
Animation is exactly around where Dragon Ages is, meaning not fully mo-capped, with lot of standard gross animations. Particle effects, fire, and explosion aren't even on par with Bioshocks. Texture detail on characters is where this game shines and it proves why more work is done these days to character models than anything else in the game. Voice work is about Dragon Age's level of quality....
Pulling the ol' resize trick eh? I could make Mario's face in Mario Galaxy look as good as Nariko's if we resized pics to 200 x 50. Please don't try to downplay reality when we all have 1280 x 720 shots in front of us. You lose ALOT of respect.
Once more we are comparing 1280 x 720 shots of:

If i had to do calculate point ratios every time I bought groceries, pay for my cell phone bill, etc. I would literally want to shoot myself. If you can pay in dollars, why set up this artificial point system that inconveniences the consumer?
Because you're trying to get away with something. Simple as that.
That line of thinking has one word - Stupid. You don't need to introduce a third intermediary currency when u can just say exactly what the product is worth in dollars, rupees, or yen. Do you know how ATMS work internationally? You just pull the currency amount you want. No need to convert to Microsoft points and figure out the ratio to Dollar that is. It's great accounting for Microsoft because it's easy for them to just have to add the points up. But it sure is a heck of pain in the ass...
Gamer71, thanks for the education on how to waste brain cells retraining yourself to calculate MS points. I'm sure in the fabled land of "Micrsoftia" you'd make a great accountant or tax advisor. Think about all those points you save for people who do their math wrong. You'd make a fortune! Oh wait, that's what Microsoft is banking on for those poor schmucks!
@below: And I'm sure it's such a convenience that Microsoft never had to apologize for it...
PS ...
haha... that's the whole point about misleading. The fact that you have to "figure" it out every time you do a transaction leave plenty of room for mistakes. What do you think MS does with all the partial points left over? It's free money!~
For a person at my age... running around in 30-50lb gear at a full sprint of 30-40mph lugging a ruby red or neon blue camo fatigue recoiless SAW you can aim and shoot through a reticle in less than 0.1 sec is nothing short of ridiculous. Oh and we haven't even begun to discuss the Halo-esque reticle javelin/melee bullcrap Hope that answers my opinion.
