If Linux is so horrible, why is it only gaining in popularity? Heck, I don't like it either...haha...but you can't deny that a lot of people do like it.
Of course Sony isn't the sole owner behind Blu-Ray. Why do you speak as if I know nothing? But this news wouldn't have been posted on these forums if Sony wasn't a major part of the Blu-Ray association. Stop trying to downplay the significance of this news.

People who have a Sony Vaio can CHOOSE to use Linux, just as the PS3 does. The Vaio will survive and sell well with or without Windows. Not the same thing can be said when it comes to the 360 and Blu-Ray, and not so much at stake as it is now.

If they're just talking about it now, for Microsoft's sake they better not have a Blu-Ray add-on until mid 2010. Anything earlier would be rushed and of poor quality.

Sony now official pwns Microsoft. No debate anymore. Every Blu-Ray player sold by Microsoft will now go into the Sony war chest. It's amazing.

I agree with the general hardcore gamer's disgust with the Wii. I think the Wii is a silly, cheesy, childish, dumbed-down disgrace to gaming. I even hate the name "Wii". I hate saying it, hate writing it, and hate how people who know nothing about gaming say it with ignorant pride.
But you know what? That's just my opinion. I come from a different gaming tradition. I don't admire Mario. I think Smash Brothers is childish and makes people act stupid. But that's just ME. ...

Nintendo is certainly shaking in their boots. What the PSP is doing was deemed as impossible 5 years ago: actually taking real and significant market-share away from Nintendo's monopoly over the hand-held market. Nintendo is shaking because the PSP2 is only going to be worse for them.

You're going waaaay too far. This isn't communism where everybody should be one big happy family. I would hate that. Competition is good, and may Microsoft and Sony always be different at each other's throats!! (And may Sony always use Linux!!!) We gamers benefit from it!
Anyways, Microsoft keeps talking about "games sell consoles". True. But Games + Blu-Ray sells MORE consoles.
